Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

I called and spoke to Mrs Miller lastnight. Super nice lady. Ed was working thirds and she told me he would call me between 2-5 today. Sure enough I received a call from Ed, who was also a super nice gentleman, at 2:03pm. He answered my questions and worked out a specialty order for me even though it was not listed on his site. This was for my rears, I will be getting fronts next year. Big thumbs up.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

Hello,

This is my first Post...

I Ordered brakes from FLYNBYE /Ed on 05/03/11 (See emails below) , the number he has given me is disconnected/does not work.??.. He has not returned my emails? Anyone know if anything has happened to him?

Does anyone have a working number to reach him at?

I understand it takes him sometime but I was under the impression all parts were in stock and just the calipers needed coating?

Ed,

Everything OK .? Have not received a reply to last email. ?

How are things going ? Are we close to a completion/pick up date?

Thanks ..

WM

At this time I don't have a set of silver front C4 calipers on hand and will need to get them coated. As the site states we have a 3-4 week backlog and this powdercoating delay won't add anything to it really. It's likely I can send them off on Monday and it should only take a few days to get them back. If this is an issue please let me know. Thank you.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

From his site recently updated:

"We are experiencing a very high volume of orders at this time.
Please allow for some delay in shipping as we get caught up. Thank you."

Also says that he is in the midst of a move so he is not doing full kits right now.

I spoke to him last week. Very nice people.

Before this week his site said he is backed up and he has said before not to email as his email box is clogged. He does this site and several others. He is also a one man show doing this as a hobby as he has a full time night job.

I am sure he will get to it and he is fine. But with the volume he has and limited time patience is key.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

I really wanted to do more business with Ed but I think he is spread out to thin
(too many irons in the fire) at this time. I tried to contact him four times recently and got no response. His website stated no brake kits until further notice. I need a LS1 brake upgrade kit ASAP. I went to http://www.bigbrakeupgrade.com and contacted Scott. I had a instant reply and he answered all of my questions. He has favorable customer service and comments. I ordered a LS1 upgrade kit from Scott today.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

Hello,

Thanks guys for the replies.

I saw the New posting on his Web site last night. Phone # still disconnected.

I hope you all are correct and everything is OK. I can't use BigBrake as I've already paid $1,800.00 for my order with Ed. If you guys are confident in him I will relax.

I read all the post here before I ordered and understood it would take sometime but I sure did miss the one post in which it took a guy 12 Weeks to get his brakes Ouch!!.. Hope that doesn't happen to myself.

Thanks again guys!...

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

I know it's alot of money but I wouldn't be too worried about this.. Three reasons:

1) Ed has stated before that he has about 500 unread emails or messages (atleast). So for him to answer them all is probably impossible unless he hires someone to do it 40 hours a week. Best chance to get a hold is to give him a call.

2) Now that it appears he is moving to another location, so it makes sense that the number is disconnected.

3) Ed is a stellar guy with a great rep for delivering top notch products. Nothing happened to him (thankfully) and he is just relocating. It states this clearly on his website. Also, states this:
Orders that have been placed will be filled as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience during this delay

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

I agree, Ed is a super guy! I've done business with him in the past. I will do more business with him in the future. The timing was just bad for me right now. Over the past six months I've spent a boat load of money on the suspension of my Z and now is the time to drive it. All I lack to finish is the LS1 upgrade. Might as well post the whole message:

Welcome to Flynbye Performance, LLC

Please note: Starting Monday June 6, 2011 Flynbye will not be accepting
full brake kit orders until further notice. We will be moving to a new location
and will be unable to fill those type of orders. Brackets, lines, and other
parts will be available but please contact us with any questions you may have.
Orders that have been placed will be filled as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience during this delay.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

Here is an email I received from Scott at bigbrakeupgrade.com the same day I ordered:

Thank you for your purchase! Please allow 3-5 working days for me to machine assemble and package your kit. Once completed, you will receive notification of shipment via Fedex.com. Use the supplied tracking info to follow the progress of the shipment to your door. If you should have any questions at any point, please let me know.

Have a great day,
Scott

I hope this works out well for me.

I received the LS1 upgrade this morning from Scott, It was only eight days from the time I ordered. Completely assembled and ready to bolt on. Very nice so far.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

EB is alive and well!! He returned my phone call last night, he is super busy with parts and moving, we had a great chat and my parts should be here soon. Give him a call, he will return it as soon as he can, his e-mail is maxed out and he just does not have time to answer them all. Try 803-396-5693, it worked for me.

Re: flynbye.com brakes - poor service!

Spoke with a very nice lady over the phone just now (I assumed she was his wife). She very super nice and explained the whole move thing and that she would give Ed the message and he would call me back tonight. She did mention Ed might not have everything he needs right now to assemble a rear LS1 for me because they are in the middle of moving, which is understandable.
