Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

Ed Miller the owner of Flynbye.com took my money on April 24, 2011 with no problem. He clearly stated on his site that there was a 4 week delay of full brake kits. 9 weeks latter and all I have received are brake pads, and a set of emergency brake cables. I ordered a full PBR real brake upgrade kit with a new proportioning valve. I've called and left several messages. He called me back once and told me he would ship my order on Wednesday 22June2011. All I received was new e-brake cables and a rear disc pad set... He has not responded to any of my emails, and I have never been able to get him on the phone when I call his provided #. DO NOT USE.. I can understand some delay and issues but this is absurd. If I don't receive my parts I will be contacting a lawyer for legal repercussions.

Re: Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

I think Ed is a nice guy.. But I have to agree. I waited 6 months to get the parts i needed. I had a set of wrong brackets, twice! and it took forever to get the correct ones. I wrote three emails and called multiple times needing to order e-brake brackets, I finally gave up. Also I did not get the right e-brake cables and braided brake lines I paid for. Its a shame because I had 2 other cars I was going to order full kits for. There are a lot of people that have been upset about the time it takes to get the parts and the lack of communication from Ed. I doubt there is a need to get a lawyer, he seems to be a nice guy and honest. But, he needs to really shape up as a businessman, regardless of how busy the schedule is. At least some more frequent communication.

Re: Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

Yea I ordered about 650.00 worth of parts, recieved the e-brake cables and hard rear lines for a LS rear swap, waiting on hubs and calipers and brackets for the front, talked to his wife yesterday, she seemed nice but said he has a list of calls to make, he told me 2 weeks ago it would get shipped out, never did, and am still waiting for a call or parts. I know he is busy and moving and all, but he did take my money, if he was so busy he could of declined till later I would of went somewhere else.

I heard from EB last night, he called me, and said the move is about complete and he is working on my order as well as others, still a little dis-organized from the move but at least he called, that was a big boost for me. Give him time, he will get to you.

He sent me one package missing the axle hard brake lines... all other parts were sent from the vendors, he had no tracking numbers for them, and had no idea when they were to arrive... He needs a new business plan. Will never do business to again..

That's a shame guys.. The LS1 kit i got from Ed was superb. Everything fit properly and there was no issues. I did wait awhile to get the kit but it was worth it in the end.

I have not heard from him since our last phone call last week, said he would call last Thurs. Never did. All I have recieved is the hard lines and e-brake cables, which came from outside vendors. I will try and call him tonight, my car is about done except brakes, really looking at big brake, but eb still has my money and would rather try and get parts from him then my money back, I think that would really take a long time.

Not bashing, just a little discouraged it is taking so long!!

Well I talked to Ed last week (Wed 20 Jul) and he said my package was going out either Fri or Sat, now it is Thurs and have recieved nothing, (I am in Delaware, he is in SC, kinda close, and he recieved my paypal on June 6th.), called paypal and you can not file a grivance after 45 days but they sent him an e-mail stating the buyer was unhappy and he will go to his credit card company.

I havre tried calling him twice this week, last night and again today, answering machine both times.

What is even worse is I sent him my old 1 LE abuntments, brackets, and calipers in good faith to swap parts with him, so I can't even go back to what I had. This by far has been the worse experience I have had with car parts ever.

Now I guess I am getting into the bashing phase. Hell I have cahtted with bigbrake like 3 times thru e-mail and I haven't bought a damn thing from him.....yet!

So the saga continues.............

I think Ed really just needs to stop taking new orders and spend a lot of time clearing out all of his existing and old orders. Then once he is caught up reopen the ordering. He is tarnishing his own rep.

Welcome to Flynbye Performance, LLC
Please note: As of June 17, we are no longer taking new orders,
pending our move later this month.
Current orders will be filled in the order in which they were placed.
Thank you for your patience during this delay.

In my honest opinion, and I'm sure many others, you need not be worried about your money being stolen. Ed's an honest guy that's been on here for years and years. I think that because of him moving it is just taking a lot of time.

I've had a number of conversations with Ed over the years, and have always been impressed. He's dealt with a lot of people on this forum over the years, and their experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.

That said, there is just no excuse for OP to have been treated, and to continue to be treated this way.

Ed took his money, he owes him the goods and services promised. if he cannot deliver, then he should admit as much, and give the guy his money back. More importantly, Ed should give OP his peace of mind back.

No excuse.

Yes on the few occasions I have talked to him he is very nice and wants to help just almost two months is a little crazy, and all I needed were off the shelf items, no powder coating, bla, bla. Just find it and put it in a box.

Re: Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

I spoke with his wife yesterday about parts I ordered too long ago to admit. I was supposed to get a call back last night or this morning when she looked into it for me. Have yet to receive a call, but hopefully my super long drawn out order will be addressed shortly. I can honestly say its been SO long that if anyone were to lose their money on a deal, it would most probably be me. When I spoke with his wife and told her how long it had been with out getting a single part she asked me how that could be. A resonable response if you knew how long I've been waiting. A frustrating response when you consider its about the fifth call in the last six months without one response or even remembering my situation. Of the handful of calls, I reached Ed once, (and thought I resolved the problem) his wife twice and never got a call back from Ed either time after reaching his wife. Yesterday she told me she would look into it and get back to me. I get the feeling she thinks I'm lying but I have all the messages and paypal info to back it up without a single item being shipped to be. To top it off, it's not even a full kit, just spindles, backing plates, and small brake parts.

I too made the mistake of sending my core spindles. Used the credit towards backing plates. Figured I'd be smart and get my complete order filled at one time rather that wait for two seperate packages. Yeah...not so smart! I feel like a jackass eveytime I pass the camaro sitting on jackstands. Silver lining?...I've been waiting so long I've finished up my front end rebuild and cleaned up a 9 bolt posi for a swap during my free time.

There are probably six other threads with the same jist as this one. Why don't you guys just use big brake. I don't get it. Whether or not a person is busy, when someone tkes your money you expect proffesionalism.

Well after leaving somewhat of a "I don't want to say threatening message about going to paypal and all that ugly crap", I finally talked to Ed tonight and have a FedEx tracking number, although tonight it does not register, might be too early in the FedEx system to show tracking info, but I have one and it is hopefully on the way. It was mailed today, Thurs the 28th July, so will let everyone know if I get tracking info tomorrow and when everything is delivered. My intention was not to make him look bad or deter business, Lord knows the 3rd gen crowd needs a good reliable vendor, esp for brakes. I hope he can maintain a business, I personally think his whole brake business got bigger then even he expected, looking on his web site he offers systems for numerous GM bodies, and he just can not keep up with the demand he has esp the crazy 3rd gen crowd alone. He requires some kind of help with processing orders and organizing, I know that might require paying someone, or I am afraid business will dwindle and he will give up, and I hate to see that happen.

Re: Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

received a message from flynbye today, letting me know it was brought to Ed's attention and I should be getting a call over the weekend. First I've ever received such a message, so thats promising.

I would think big brakes is a good option as well, but I'm not sure they have rear brake setups for 9 bolts and what not. Also don't know if they carry anything aside from C5 and LS1 brake swaps, but I'm not too sure.

Ed is a super nice guy and means to do right. I am sure all of you have been in over your head at one time or another and it will take him some time to sort this out. If you have other projects now is the time to finish them. I too waited for a while but the products have lasted at the track and it was well worth it. To bombard someone in this situation just takes time away from what he should be doing..

Im looking into buying a kit from ed and so far it seems the wait time is quite lengthy but the product is well worth the money. If I do buy it from him I plan on doing it just before winter and if it takes long for parts to be assembled etc I wont mind since the car will be parked and the parts wont be put on till spring.I want to get the complete front kit and rear disc conversion.

Ed may be a nice guy, but he's been over his head for what... like 3 years now? I'd rather send my money to someone that can deliever before 6 months is out.

It was the exact same for me like 2 or 3 years ago when I ordered a C5 kit from him. Do a search for my name and some brake or C5 keywords, you'll see what I had to say.

Re: Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

If you know anything about Ed Miller, you would understand that he works 70 hours a week aside from running Fly N' Bye, out of his home the last I knew.

If you want to go a different route, good luck finding any bolt on brake kit to fit your 3rd gen F body. No one offers anything for these cars but stock replacement. The same wimpy, cheap old technology junk they came with from GM. You want to spend hours converting newer GM brakes to your car? Brakes that are marginally better than the stock junk.

I sent Ed $1850, then waited 4 months for my brakes. That was 5 1/2 years ago and these brakes are the best upgrade I could have made to this car. With 14 inches of idle vacuum and about double the factory power output, the stock brakes even freshly redone were no way up to the task.

Today, I have the front rotors from a 97 ZR1 vette and much better calipers(Wilwood FSL) than what the ZR1 even had. My rear brakes came from an 02 SS Camaro. All for a bargain price. The kits front and rear bolted right on with very little fuss. The wait was long but absolutely worth it.

Sorry, but that doesn't wash.

If you went to order something off of Ed's site, and a message popped up saying:

"Hey, I work 70+ hours a week in addition to selling awesome, low cost brake kits on the side.

I'll do my best to get your order to you right away, but you have to understand it may take me weeeks, even months, even six months to get your order to you, and I'm so busy I may not be able to even return your emails or calls for months on end"

Then I'd say you had a point.

That's not what he does, though, and so many people have been burned by his over-promise, under-deliver business practices that he's burned on this site, probably for good.

I hate to see that. I like the hell out of Ed, and he offers GREAT products at reasonable prices.

The choices he makes in how he runs his business, and how he communicates with his customers and fulfills their orders are his responsibility, and his alone.

It makes me sad.

I seem to remember Ed telling me when I ordered my brake kits that he was months behind on orders and it would be a long wait. I ordered the kits in November and he said it would probably be March before he got to it. I guess I got my kits closer to June. I remember calling and e-mailing and panicking that something had gone wrong and my brakes would never come, feeling I imagine something like you do now. But the brakes did come and everything worked out fine.

You are liable to go through the same waiting process if you have a top quality custom engine built. There are times of the year when my engine machinist will have a 2 month back log before he can even start a new project. Of course he lets you know this up front. Still, the wait is hard to sit through. The product is well worth the wait and I would never use anyone else.

I used Bigbrakeupgrade. They were crazy fast. I had my whole C6 kit in about 7 business days.

I thought Ed was cool in responding back to me. Took him a few weeks, but he refunded me back my money on a part ordered which he no longer had in stock.

Re: Do Not Use FLY N BYE.COM

I wish Scott at BBU had some of the stuff that Ed has listed on his site. Parts like brake lines, hoses and rear drum to disc conversion brackets
. I bought a complete C6 Z51 front brake kit from BBU and it was delivered in perfect condition in a very reasonable time.
