Miniram thermostat bottoming out issues

Anyone have any insight on this? First I heard of it, but I must admit, my car does run hotter than it should..

I've been told a stant 45356 (160*) may work with the older style Miniram.

I use the reuasable Fel-Pro blue and red gasket first THEN put my Mr Gasket thermo on top then the lid. No probs here. I've used 180 and 160 in differant shapes with no probs

Re: Miniram thermostat bottoming out issues

I noticed I was running a little warmer than usual but just figured it was due to the hotter motor set up (and may still be because of that).

Re: Miniram thermostat bottoming out issues

I spoke to Chris at TPIS today and found out two things.

1) The "older" manifolds will have a ridge machined into them for the thermostat. These take the 'shallow' thermostat, that he said was no longer available. He said drill some holes in the thermostat.. The newer manifolds run the thermostat in the water neck.

ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF MY OLD STYLE INTAKE, WITH MACHINED RIM FOR THE THERMOSTAT. THIS REQUIRES EITHER A SHORT (HARD TO FIND) THERMOSTAT, OR HOLES DRILLED IN THE THERMOSTAT..

2) The Corvette water neck is CAST and NOT WELDED. The F-body water neck is welded, and points more straight-up. The Corvette (Y-BODY) water neck goes straight OUT to the front.
