Question about cooling my L98 with an LT1 intake

I'm in the middle of an LT1 intake swap on my 1991 Corvette and I have run into a small issue concerning the cooling system.

My Corvette might be a bit different than a third gen, so I'll describe the cooling lines I am curious about. There is a coolant line exiting from the passenger side, rear of the intake. The line splits and runs to the upper surge tank and to the radiator. In my service manual this is called the the 'plenum air bleed hose.'

There is the large hose coming off the thermostat housing that leads to the upper corner of the radiator.

The heater core inlet line attaches to the front of the intake.

Basically, there are 4 things that the intake is feeding coolant to: The heater core, the upper surge tank, the small line that branches off the surge tank to the radiator, and the thermostat/large hose that runs to the top of the radiator.

My plan was to run the 2 ports on my LT1 intake to the remote thermostat housing. Then, the small exit port of the thermostat housing will have to feed the heater core, surge tank, and the small line branching from the surge tank to the radiator.

I know it's confusing to read, but does anyone whose done this before have any advice? Does my plan sound like it will work?

Also, the surge tank and recovery tank are 2 seperate tanks on the Corvette, and the radiator has no cap.

Re: Question about cooling my L98 with an LT1 intake

i think i know what your talking about. thats pretty much what i would have done on my Irocz when i was about to do the swap.

2 lines from the thermostat housing running to the LT1 manifold, and 1 other to feed the watervalve for the heater core.

i dont know what a surge tank is and a recovery tank is, but if their is lines that feed coolant to them, then feed those tanks with a line from the thermostat housing

The 90-91 is a weird setup. Let me look at my cousins today and verify and I'll give you my advice.

I removed part of the bleeder setup on my '87, but I still only have 1 tank for the radiator, rather than the one up by the firewall and the other in the nose like yours.

Re: Question about cooling my L98 with an LT1 intake

hope this may help, the hose in the back of t-stat housing is hooked to heater core and the splitter, the two in the side go to rear of intake, mass air flow upside down for clearance of t-stat housing, made bracket, bolted to top of water pump.I drilled the water outlets in the back for TB clearance,I also seen where someone drilled and tapped in the end of the head.
