Ram Jet and hood clearences

First off, I tried a search but came up with nothing. I know from reading on here that the Holley Stealth Ram does not clear a stock TA hood (without cutting braces). After digging, I see that the GM Ram Jet is 3/4" shorter. So that leads to the question...Has anyone used one with a stock 3rd gen TA hood? Does it clear without a problem? Thanks all.

Re: Ram Jet and hood clearences

on gmperformanceparts website is a catalog.pdf. i tried to DL but took forever. I would fire them an email.

actually i would use the victor JR EFI manifold(shorter) with an accel TB unit.

or if still wont fit (i think it would be close) use a weiand accelerator low profile and have a machine shop weld in the bungs. that will fit no problem

Re: Ram Jet and hood clearences

Thanks Ronny, but I am trying to keep some resemblance to a TPI set up. After looking at hood heights and all the other fun stuff, I realized that I never thought about what style of intake/head it was. The Ram Jet is for Vortec heads...something that I do not have, nor am I willing to change to. So it looks like either an after market hood and a Holley Stealth Ram, or keep my car "looking" stock and give a nod to TPIS's Miniram. It is only money right? Either way, I want to decide soon. Right now the car hits a brick wall at 3000 rpm...at only 290hp!! Needs more air, and I am not going to band-aid it with "high flow" runners and plenum.

I figure after two years, you've either given up or found out for yourself... But my ramjet manifold cleared my stock formula hood (after a few swings with a hammer). The bracing has to be moved or cut, but not very much.
