Weiand Stealth Ram

Hey there

I found Weiand Stealth Ram (part no. 7540/7540P) and im a bit confused about which heads it fits ?? I have Edelbrock 60859 heads on SBC gen1 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=EDL%2D60859&N=700+115&autoview=sku

and was wondering if it will fit or do i have to use LTR which is not good idea for me.

Best regards
WASyL

Re: Weiand Stealth Ram

There are 2 basic versions of the Stealth Ram; one for Vortec heads (raised intake ports), and one for all other heads.

The 60859s are in the "all other" group. So the more common SR (lower price too, I think) will fit them. No need to keep the LTR setup.

WASyL, check your throttle bodies cable bracket (butterfly bracket) for interference with the driver side front fuel rail fitting. Depending on your style of throttle body, you may or may not have an issue.

Re: Weiand Stealth Ram

yes it's on the road again, just forgot to write, at the moment i'm brekeing in the engine, just 200 miles left, it runs perfect (maybe except starting at cold engine as coldstart was removed due to HSR does not have it) and it feels powerfull even thoe i'm running on stock injectors but with bigger fuel presure on them, 30 are to big for stock ECM, now im collecting money for Commander 950 to finetune it and then choose the stall converter. actually i had one race with a guy running 300hp audi s2 and it was like takieng candy from the baby i'm hopeing to see 350hp+ when everything will be set

Who told you that 30 lbs injectors are to big for stock ECM? You can change your injector constant in the constants table of your bin, it is called injector flow rate. If you had a 305 the rate will be 19 lbs and if you had a 350 your rate will be 22.4 lbs I'm guessing that you have a 165 ECM. If you are thinking about buying the ford SVO 30 lbs you need to type 32 as the injector flow rate not 30 because ford rates their injectors at 43 psi not 39 psi like GM. Anyway your stock ECM is up to the task.

I Just noticed you have 383, in that case you would need a 36 lbs injectors. Remember when using any ford SVO style injectors always add 2 lbs to the injector flow rate all other injectors type what they flow in the injector flow rate in the constant are of the bin.

I know that chip burning can get old and annouying, so what I did was buy a NVSRAM from moates.net and now I have the same capability to reflash my ECM through my ALDL port just like the LT1/LS1 cars. But I can make changes with car running. Make sure you put 32 lbs as your injector flow rate. Just do a search for NVSRAM on DIY forum.

Re: Weiand Stealth Ram

well i won't touch ECM, i've just finnished reading commander 950 instruction book and i've decieded not to use it, here in Poland we have piggy-back called Ecumaster (universal device) which does all the same and it is much cheaper, it cost me about 130$ + about 20$ for MAP. It has full fuel and ignition map, MAF-to-MAP conversion, launch control, street-dyno and couple others. one only thing i need to know is MAF voltage range, is it 0-1V or 0-5V ??

I've done the MAF to SD swap 7 years ago and never looked back. I got a ECM from a 90 to 92 camaro at a local junkyard to include the Map sensor and memcal for $25, then I ordered some flash chips and memcal adaptor from moates.net. I've tuned my current set-up to 11.39 @ 122mph on motor and 10.66 @ 132mph on 150 shot NOS. I know your in Poland, but if the system you are referring to Ecumaster is simular to a 730 ECM then have fun tuning.

Re: Weiand Stealth Ram

well i don't know 730ECM (i'm quite new to f-bodies and modding them) but Ecumaster is like C950 and can do all the same but is sold without harness and sensors. here in poland it is hard to get ECM's and geting them from states is expensive so i try to find all the ways to save some money if i can to buy things from US that i need and cannot find any counterpart here in europe
