Do a search for LT1 conversions, there's lots of info. I'm actually in the process of doing this myself right now. It will fit, but it will need to be heavily modified to work as there's no distributor hole and such. You will need the LT1 fuel rails.

yeah actualy i can get the whole motor my friend has it...its out of a 95 impala ss...but i wasnt sure what all i should take off it and i would still like it to be a l98
You'll also need atleast the accesory brackets if not the accesorys them selves.
I believe atleast some of them are interchaingable though, like the alt, PS and maybe the A/C pump. Routing is different usualy so there will be some extra work in sorting it all out.
The onlything you NEED to have a drivable car is the alt though, and thats simple.
i will go and see the motor and find out what all he has but the they made a complete motor swap with a big block so they shouldn't of used the old accessories
I am trying to almost the same thing and need a little advice. i have a 97 LT1 Camaro. I found a really nice 85 corvette tuned port injection manifold, fuel rails, and throttle body. the part number 14081006 and 14081005 are for the manifold. what would it take to put the L98 manifold onto my LT1?

Port the lt1 one, much better design!
I have an lt1 swapped in my 3rd gen and love it, when is was a mild stock motor it went 12.90s, then i went to a 383 lt1 and went 11.70s now the 383 has a nice big single turbo
Your 85 TPI manifold uses the older bolt holes where the inner 4 are angled toward the center while the LT1's are more upright.
All you would have to do is modify the center holes to fit later style heads, this is covered many times on the forum.
If running the LT1 ECU you will need to plug the disty hole with whatever is conveniant. If you are going to be running an L98 style ECU and harness the TPI disty will work fine (small cap).
Actual air flow isnt the issue that people make it out to be. With TPI manifolds it's actualy the tuned legnth of the runners that limits power output due to the fact that it's tuned to produce peak output at a low RPM.
Horsepower being torque x RPM you cant make more power than torque if your motor becomes ineficient above 5252RPM.

Yes i will be using the LT1 ECU. Can i use the 85 TPI fuel rails/ injectors? And how much can i expect to gain from this?
Injectors are essentialy the same up until the lsx motors so just be sure they are clean, work and are large enough for your intended output.
As for gains with the TPI in place of an LT1 I doubt you'll see anything.
Like Jay-rich said the LT manifold is better overall than an OE TPI manifold especialy for top end output. Puting the TPI im on an LT1 will move the power and torque peaks down quite a bit and will result in a drop in peak HP but proabably with a huge amount of lowend torque in trade.
Thanks. now it makes a little more sense. I've got 2 LT1 Camaros. one is built and the other is a convertible for style We decided today with the forums help try port matching the old ones and try them on the convertible. thanks again
