i have some questions for my soon to be HSR swap

i just ordered my rotating assembly and my blocks at the machine shop... so now im getting serious with the HSR and figurin the stuff out.

i got 3 questions

first question. i didnt realize the stock remote mount coil from my stock 350tpi wont work untill about 20min ago!!! the bracket that bolts to the stock TPI base (last 2 bolts towards the rear of the engine on pass side) the HSR has a huge bump between the 2 bolt holes. D@MNNNN!! my question is... ive read that the coil shouldnt be farther than 12" from the distributer... and the closer it is the better. i really didnt want to run the coil on the firewall. what are my choices? wat if i moved the coil to the 2 center bolt holes on the pass side, i believe this would be about 12-15" from the distributer? i would love to keep it in the stock location since i already made my own wires alil wire ago so id have to make and run a new wire but the block is not allowing me.

second question. my stock MAP sensor has a 2 weather pack connector and 2 vacume lines that go to the underneith side of the TB and the other i believe goes to the EGR valve. im not running the EGR anymore so do i still need to run the MAP? can i delete the MAP and be ok? if im not running the EGR but i still need the MAP what do i do... plug it?

third question. there are 2 vacume lines coming out of the firewall at the bottom right of the AC/heater core(where it mounts) right behind the pass valve cover, and is part of a bunch of wires. these 2 hard black vacume lines what do they go to? i thought one was for the heater controls for the vacume switch to allow fluid to go to the heater core but i have no idea what the other one is for. i deleted my heater, and heater controls in the instrument panel and AC but im still running cruise control. wat are these 2 vacume lines and can i delete them?

You can grind a notch in the coil bracket to clear the hump. And the cruise control vacuum source is seperate from that of the HVAC controls...you should actually be able to trace the line from the cc back to the intake.

I trimmed the "hump" off of the manifold and installed the coil / backet in the stock location.

Re: i have some questions for my soon to be HSR swap

u were able to trim the whole huge bump/square off? im not actually sure why holley put them there since i dont beleive there is a water coolant passage there.

i guess i could trim the bracket. or i could mount the bracket up closer to the middle of the HSR intake in the 2 center bolts since theres no hump there. but then id have to make a new distributer wire. can one just purchase a single spark plug wire?

i traced the CC line back to the intake but theres a vacume T that connects the line. the T is located near the window wiper motor but i cant find the small line that connects to it since the mount on the T for the small line has broken off.

so its safe to say that the 2 vacume lines coming out of the firewall can be deleted since they are for heater controls correct?

You don't state your year model but if your engine is MAP , not MAF ; then the MAP sensor is one of the main sensors sending signals to the computer. Delete that and engine prob won't run , or very bad at least.

The factory MAP sensor has no lines to it; it is bolted directly into the plenum on pass rear side above the vac ports

Re: i have some questions for my soon to be HSR swap

sry guys its a 87 MAF car... not sure what sensor this is then. thought it was the map but im gona post a pic of it. its got a twin terminal weather pack connector, with 2 vac lines coming out. one goes to the EGR i believe and the other i kno goes to the bottom of the TB and charcol canister. not acutally sure why i was calling it a MAP sensor i think my dad said thats what it was (he gets alil screwy)

posted is the pic of the sensor, it bolts to the coil pack which u can see with bracket. i knotched the coil bracket heavily to get it to bolt to the back of the HSR and clear the block(not moddified in pic) but when i mocked it up, this "sensor" still wont bolt up bc it runns into the back of the fuel rail. i tried the only 2 ways it fits and it hits either the fuel rail or the aluminum block. just wondering if i need this sensor so i would have to find a place for it.
