hey, i know some of you out there have your gauges all lit up different colors and stuff like that. not really waht im after, what i want is to keep the orange (firebird) but change the needles to light up a different color. ( im tired of the needles being the same color as the gauges) im sure it is probably pretty easy.
i have a 91 firebird (backlit gauges, i guess).
do you just sand off teh orange from the needle, and paint the back of it another color? if so, what kind of paints, and what colors would work best??
I bought some 97' Ford Explorer needles, they are light a optical plastic w/ a LED under them, during day they are white (I have Black faces on my car) but at night they are what ever color the bulb is (in my case blue) I havent installed them yet, my car is in storage a long ways away.....but soon. If you are interested in changing the color of the guges you should go look at a explorer
thanks, will definitely check one out next time i am home. so how are you planning to hook up the LED behind the needle?
i thought our needle already 'kind of' did the fiber optic thing (not with a LED, of course) i have a 91 bird. it seems (from memory, car is not nearby) that the needles are clear plastic, with the back side orange. i thought they pick up light the same way the rest of the gauge does. hmmm i could be wrong.
