Question about 4th gen rims

I have a buddy who has a set of 4th gen rims that were gonna go on his 92 RS. They are 16" rims, and his stock rims are 15". When he put them on, he said that they rubbed on what looked like the fender well. So he I asked him if he would sell them to me, and he said yes, for $200 (they paid $250). So i have a few questions....when he put them on , they didnt have any tires on the rims, so is that what caused the problem? If not, is it just that his car is wierd or is it going to do the same thing on my car (89 RS). Anyone have any ideas? He also said that he would trade me straight up for the rims I have now because his are all messed up. So another quick question...am I getting a good deal on them or could I get them cheaper some place else? Thanx for all the help!

did he have spacers on the rims? Without spacers 4th gen rims will rub!!! If he did have spacers if there are alot of miles on the car the suspesion could be sagging and sitting lower and would cause to hit. Check the size of the tires, I ran 245/55/16 on my Iroc rims on my 89 RS and on hard turns it rubbed a little. We will need more information!

also what style 4th gen rims? you can get salad shooters for like 150 a set. If they are the 5 star style from 97-99 then they usually go for about 3-400, and the 2000-2002 are less desireable than the salad shooters.

You will pay more for the wheel adapters than you will pay for the 4th gen wheels. Adapters will run about $ 300-350 for a set.

I dont think he has spacers, and there were no tires on the rims, they just wanted to make sure they would fit before they bought tires for them. So You're saying that spacers are 300 a set?! thats insane! Why would anyone put 4th gen rims on there car if they had to pay that much for spacers. Also they are 93 salad shooters I beleive (havent seen them, but they said they are in great condition, so I'll beleive them since they are good friends.)

O.K. so your looking at 200 for the wheels, 300 to 350 for the adapters, and another 500 0r 600 for tires. Why not just get a set of GTA or Iroc wheels and tires, and save 300 to 400 dollars.
They are better looking than the salid shooter 93-96 camaro wheels.

spacers from Skulte are 160 per set of 2 (320 for 4 with shipping inc.) Why buy spacers, Nice wheels that are stock! For some salad shooters I agree with 97-1le, buy a set of nice 3rd gen wheels (my stock 91 rs wheels with s-10 ZQ8 centercaps and 235/55/16 tires are for sale) and save yourself some money. Salad shooters aren't worth it!

I think they are worth it, makes the car look awesome.
I paid $353 for my set of 4.

You can see the spacer on the rear in this pic,

I got these wheels for $225, (one of the best looking 4th gen wheels made)

If you get a 4th gen rear, then you only need spacers on the fronts.

I'd say get some differnat 4th gen wheels other than salad shooter, I have ZR1/SS wheels. adaptors in the front 93 Z28 rear in the back (no adaptors).

Have you decided on some other wheels yet? You could get the ROH wheels, they fit with no adaptors.

Hey omnipotentgoku, I really like the vette rims. Could you get some more pics of the car at different angles and stuff. I was at the Super Chevy show and there were several sets of those wheels at the swap meet. I was thinking of what you have done.
