Decals

I am finally at the point where I am looking into getting my car painted. (For those of you who I have PM'd and such, I shafted the idea of doing it myself)

At any rate, I wanna buy some decals and put them back on, but all it takes is a little wax here, and some sun here, and they look like poo.

Could I take the decals into the bodyshop, and have them put them on the paint before they put the clearcoat on and then have clearcoat put over the decals?

i dont think that sounds too good of an idea to me. Then the clear coat is gunna crack and then you wana talk about crappy looking. They make pretty good reproduction decals now a days. I mean, they have to give you at least 20-30hp per square foot. I mean, look at these r*cers flyin around with thoes HUGE ones right?... it HAS to give you power right? hehehe. i dunno, but to me it doesnt sound like a good idea.

I'm assuming you're talking about factory decals, right?

I agree with Bigals. The decals are pretty good nowadays, and even still, painting over them would just look like crap in the long run.

Of course, you could pay someone to paint them on....it would cost some bucks, but D A M N, that would look cool.

After the paint cures apply the decals then put a nice coat of Zaino over them. Use Phoenix Graphics for the decals.

That is the only reason I am doing it.

I figure 1 for each sail panel. that is like 60 horsepower right there, the TRANS AMS on each fenders, well they say TRANS AM so that equates to maybe 150 hp, and the bird on the nose, that is worth like 75 all by itself.

Wow...I dont need a new engine anymore.

-Anyways, thanks for the advice on the sticker clearcoat deal.

-As for having it painted on, I got a buddy who is awesome at spraying stuff and making stencils, only problem is, he only works with acrylic paint. After I get the car painted, could he just work his acrylic magic, then have some clear coat put over it so it doenst wash away in the rain?

Aight sweet. I just want to make sure the clear coat wont kill the acrylic paint and then dry.

Leaving a blob of color under a shot of clear coat.
