Acid Dipping Aluminum rims?

well i have 20 slot aluminum rims on my car.

i was wondering if acid dipping did anything (good or bad)

anyone had it done? thoughts comments?

i used to have a work truck with an aluminum body that i would clean with an acid outta of power washer. would not hurt the painted body as long as i rinsed it off good and it would clean the alum to a super brite shine. the place where i used the stuff had it for the dump truck bodies to clean em up. not sure if it is the same stuff.
