I had a new fiberglass 4th gen spoiler recently installed but without the 3rd brake light. Long story shipping mishap. So my mechanic wired it up but would not drill holes. My body shop wont drill unless I waiver any damages and pay for 4 hours labor(a$$h*les). So my question is cant I fish wiring through the middle hole of brake light section and silicone the light in there and finish the wiring by removing the hatch panel underneath of it all. I wish I had a pic but anyone that has this item probably knows what I am referring to.
I could go that route but I have the brake light sitting in my back seat and my wing still has a small gap and hole for the light I really don't want to short cut things like this
Maybe I'm not understanding you, but why wouldnt you do that anyways? Are you talking about the hole in the middle of the decklid?
For mine, instead of drilling any holes, I ran my wire out the hole on the "arm" of the spolier, and went over the edge of the side of the decklid and up the strut. The spoiler overlaps a little so you cant see the wire.
I might redo it eventually and go right through the center, and use a contact pad like the stock spoilers have.
I believe you have the same spoiler I do. It's really easy to remove to drill the hole and fish the wire. Lift the hatch and there's 4 bolts holding the rear part of the spoiler to the decklid. Once you remove the nuts, partially close the hatch and push the spoiler forward toward the front of the car. That will release the metal clips that hold the front arms to the edge of the hatch glass and the spoiler is off.
When you pop the spoiler off you'll see that the underside of one of the center posts has a hole next to the mounting threads. That's the hole you fish the wire through. Drill a corresponding hole in the decklid, put a grommet in, fish your wire and bolt the spoiler back up. Piece of cake.
