TOJAN
Limited Edition by Pontiac
Made exclusively for Pontiac by Knudsen Automotive, Inc., this is a 1986 Limited Edition Pontiac Tojan. This car is one of only 300 produced between 1985 and 1991.
My Tojan has a 5.0L TPI (tuned port fuel injection) V8 engine coupled with an automatic transmission (700R4). Leather RECARO Seats, GOTTI Wheels, A/C, AM/FM/Cassette with Equalizer, Digital Electronic Displays set in Walnut Burl wood Trim, Performance Suspension, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power locks, Cruise Control, Tilt Steering, Power Side View Mirrors, Power Hatch Release, Fog Lamps, and Intermittent Wipers.
Some folks hate um and some folks like um. I'm just looking for other folks that might have one.
Hmm thats kool. Those gauges look like the ones that some Kinght Rider Part dealer sells to replace your old gauges. Maybe this is where they got the idea?
I saw one of those in person at a stealership a few years ago. They wanted 9k for an '88 with 95k on the clock. Looked in okay condition. I didn't like the hood/bumper gap and there was 'glass repair on the hatch but it looked pretty good. Not worth 9k though!

your's looks like it is in great shape. I'm not a big fan of them but I definitly think they are unique. Your ride is the first I've seen without the huge spoiler on the back. I kinda like it without the spoiler. What's up with the wheel wells? Are they just painted black or is it really squared off?
I say post as many different angles as you can. I would definitely like to see one in person.
anyone have a clue to were we can get those gauges...?
that is sweet....

the fenders and quarters have black paint, you can tell in the angled pic. also, i would love to see some convertibles. and that ad also has no spoiler on the car for the one who hadnt seen them without it. sweet car, didnt even know about it.
i dont think you could with out having to spend so much money on it , i would be scared to drive it any were! but man that looks so sweet , i never noticed how common camaro's and TA's are till i owned one and now i see them every were
they sell a fiberglass trunk lid thats on ebay thats JUSt like yours was thinking of ordering it but decided not to heh
hehe, time for some headers and other go fast goodies it appears! i'd be making that thing super fast and handle the twisties like it was on rails...can anyone say StealthRammed 406????
I want to hear the details on the history of this specific car and how you came to own it. Is it holding it's value considering it was selling a 21K back in the day? It could be possible considering it's rarity. Looking at these pics it also seems like it's in impecable shape.

LB9 perhaps?
The engine code is the eight digit of the VIN. 86 would be one of these:
H = LG4 V8
G = L69 V8
F = LB9 V8
S = LB8 V6
You're most likely right, and it will be F. LB9 was 305 TPI.
That is one truly one beautiful car!
I was just showing a friend my info on the 1986 Tojan, as I recieved a package from the company way back in 1986.
Their business cards had a red Tojan on the front.
Sorry, but my package is not for sale!
I have even seen some conversions that looked just like a Ferrari 308. I have a picture of a red one, but no scanner!
I hope you keep it clean and in great condition!
George

Thanks again ya'll for the kind works about my car.
Asdfga3, thanks for the engine info, it is a F, LB9.
George,Mr. Turbo TA, does your package have a 3 leaf sales flyer like the one attached below? Sure your package isn't for sale???
Matt, wayfast84, have your friend Scott contact me about his car.
mw66nova, sorry, but this one will stay completely original.
Floor guy, if you see the local red 88 Tojan this summer, have him get in touch with me.
cooltc2004, Knudsen Automotive built the car "Kit" for the tv show Night Rider. Also, a couple Tojans were used in 1988 movie, "Collision Course" staring Jay Leno and Pat Morita.
In the movie the car was called a "Jarryd Starburst".
TraviZ & Cadillac, here is more info:
My Tojan was purchased new from Stadium Pontiac in Anaheim, CA and I'm the second owner. The original owner drove the car to a dealer in Tennessee and traded it for a motor home which he went to Alaska in on vacation. I purchased the car from the dealer and titled it from the original owner to my name. I have contacted Russell Knudsen, the owner of Knudsen Automotive and he is getting together more info about my car for me. So hopefully I'll have more details about the car soon.
Any help in locating Tojan owners would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps starting up a Tojan club may be the way to go.
Thanks again.
Wow That is some big money value right there!! I think I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for Tojans Altho I know that they're gonna be WAY outta my $ range haha.
I'll make sure to post up any Tojans I find so that interested TGO'rs can look into them
Hi 86Tojan,
I have to go back out to the garage, and dig it out again.
As for the pics, seems they were all removed for some reason.
Don't know why. Guess I didn't get here on thirdgen fast enough!
Maybe you can email me some photos to: WarbirdTA@hotmail.com
Unless you have them posted somewhere on the net, for me to view.
I think that is a great story about your car!
I am from the SoCal area originally, and during the '85-'86 years, was President of the Trans Am Club of America, Southern California area!
And you know what?
We were sponsered by Stadium Pontiac in Anahiem, California.
I don't know if they moved from Tustin before this, or way after.
Right now, there is a huge office building where they use to be in Anahiem, right across from the Ball Park!
Sorry, but I never got any License Plate covers with their name on it!
And yes, I am sure that it is not for sale! Even my friend tried to buy it off me! I have a huge collection of stuff, from orignial brochures, Press Kits,, Product Books, Ad Planners, Flyers, Fleet Edition Product books, Sales folders, color brochures, and many other items of literature!
I even have pictures taken from the 1986 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, where I got to talk to the President of the company.
Guess what? The car there was red! With the Recaros! It's possible that it could be your car. I don't know if they kept records or not, or who would have them! You can always hope!
I'll go check out my Press Kit and get back with you!
Have a good one,
George

Hi again!
I just checked out what I have.
A personal letter to me, a 3 page foldout brochure, and a 8 and a half by 11 sheet, with specs listed on both sides.
As well as 2 different business cards, listing both the President and VP of the company.
The foldout is roughly 8 by 8 inches long.
George

George,
Sent you an email with the sales brochure pic's. Perhaps the file was to big & that's why they were removed.
Thanks for the info.
Let me know if your brochure is the same.
