It also sounds like they're going to send me a couple of them so that I can evaluate them, and take my own pictures of them installed in the car. Apparently they can offer these in chrome, as well as diamond plate and regular aluminum.

They can also do aluminum and diamond plate floor mats if anybody wants those.

I'm going to call them back early next week and see what the hold up is for getting the pictures to me. I'm also going to try to get the wheels turning for those samples so that I can see what they are.

From what I understand, these don't replace the stock sills, but go over them. Whether or not they stick on or bolt on, I don't know yet, but from the original picture I saw of their diamond plate ones, they looked pretty good.

Perhaps we should start a thread in the group purchase forum, that way we'll have a good spot to keep updates.
I agree, upon your evaluation, depending on how you like them, Ill either get a set or not.

might be interested in 2 sets if they look good enough!

do you think they would be willing to make 1 set without the seatbelt cutouts for those of us who have roll bars and dont need the seat belt opening?

cant wait for those pics!

thanks

First off, do what you want for the floor mats, but those are typically seen/used on imports.

Second, I would like to see some pics of the chrome sills ASAP, the cost isn't an issue to me.

agreed. i have cash in hand if they turn out to look good and fit good.

also anyway to get pics of what materials they have? i mean chrome and diamond plate is obvious. but what aluminum do they mean? polished? brushed? and if brushed what style?

They got back to me with the pics. They're 4th gen pics.

I'm trying to get him to send me a sample piece so that I can install it on my car and provide my own pics. We'll see how it goes.

I also asked him if a satin or brushed finish is available.

I'm in for sure, but really would like to see pics first. Plus, having something engraved would be awesome.

The manufacturer got back to me today. he's sending me a set of polished and a set of chrome sills. Once I get them, I'll post my opinions and plenty of pictures.

Hopefully by the time I get the pics we'll have a pricing structure set up too.

Nothing. This guy seems to answer my first question and nothing else. Once I get the sills I've got to talk to him about price and when I do I'll ask about the satin.

My guess is that he might be able to do brushed, but I'm not banking on satin. Most small-ish operations don't have the capacity to do a satin finish, but most can do brushed.

Update!

I got the sills today. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong sills. I don't know what the heck they sent me, but they sure aren't for a thirdgen.

One encouraging thing though, is that I kind of like the flat piece instead of having it replace the entire sill. I'll have to wait and see what the right ones look like, but I honestly wouldn't be disappointed if they were just the flat jobs that went over the lower part of the factory sill.

I think though for people that are/want to run 4th gen seat belts they have an ugly gap there wherethe old retractor goes. That piece doesnt look bad though, if I cant get what I am looking for I may do something similar to that.....

i think they need offer ones that do not have the cutouts for the seat belts also. one of my cars cant use the stock seat belts because of the roll bar, and the other will have 4th gen belts as soon as i can find a good set that's cheap.

it wouldn't be that hard, they just wouldn't have to cut the openings for the belts, problem solved.

Not necessarily. If the shape is stamped out of the sheet metal in a press, it is what it is, and a new stamp would be necessary to eliminate the seatbelt cutout.

But first things first. Now I'm not even sure if the correct sills go up and over the factory sill, or just over the lower part. I've got to get the right set in and see what I've got.

i think it would be pretty cool to have lets say: trans am gta, cut out of the center, with a neon strip underneath it so it would glow when the lights or on or whatever. i've seen these kind of door sills on 4th gen camaros, and mustangs too, they look sweet and it adds a really nice touch to the interior. i will try to find a pic of one of them so you guys can look at.

Thanks: Rusty

okay, so here's the link with the neon lighted door sill, they're about half-way down the page. they're for mustangs and run about $180 but i think it would be trick on a third gen with the logo having something like: TRANS AM GTA with a bird on it, IROC, Z28.

Thanks: Rusty

I'm sure it would be neat, but let's be honest. Thirdgenners aren't going to pay $180 for door sills.

Obviously they don't realize that this one free set could land them a ton of sales. So they better get a move on.

I've given up on those clowns. They still haven't mailed me the right samples, and if they can't handle that, I'm sure not going to take 30 people's money and wind up with 30x the problems.

When I get a chance I'll try to find another manufacturer that can do what I want. I've got a couple ideas for aluminum inserts that will give a more stock-ish appearance rather than just slapping a metal piece in instead of the plastic piece.

[quote=Mr. IROC-Z]What would be cool if they had some lighted ones, where the IROC-Z logo lights up everytime you open the door.

i would be very interested in a set that said IROC-Z, and i love the idea of them lighting up

ok so I know this thread is old but recently saw this on ebay and thought alot would be interested in this:

Some designs they are willing to do:

I emailed them and asked if they were able to fabricate lighted designs. They said they are testing idea's right now, but if they had a large enough group purchase, they would consider putting it to top priority.

Lemme know guys.

Those look real sweet! I'm really in the market for complete aluminum sills since I'm running 4th gen belts but that design looks very tempting... I checked out the E-bay ad and a $250 price tag sounds pretty steep. Not very interested in lighted ones, but if they'll drop their price to under $150 by means of a group purchase you can count me in.

Yeah, I'd like to see a quote on the price breaks for different group volume purchases. $250 is too much for sills.
