i absolutly love a slammed look and since this isnt a daily anymore i want to do it to the car.
what are the lowest lowering springs you can buy? how much drop?
right now im riding on suspension techniques springs that have been cut twice!!

I'm not too sure on what spings would be the lowest. But I know front air struts, and an air bar in the rear would net you a nasty slam. AirRide Technologys makes good stuff. Problem is, it would net you a nasty reciept too.
maroon88iroc...yea i love the car. great stance with those springs. summit lists two part numbers but doesnt say (on either) what year camaros they fit or how much it drops them...care to help out a little?

im trying to fit 19's so i need something low.
mine are 2" drop springs... i went up to summit and got them i wasnt aware that they have two different part #'s... i still have the box and i can give you the part # from it if you would like. i dont know how much it lowered mine b/c i had cut springs in there that we removed so it wasnt stock height b4. 19"s are going to be tough, my 17"s rub a little with these springs and all brand new struts and shocks. the back has plenty of room but the front has hardly any.

19" won't rub any more than 17". With the right tire choice the diameter is the same.
true, my tire sizes will have an overall diameter of 25.7 rear and 25.8 front. im
not exactly sure if they used 50 or 45 series stock on my car but a 245/50/16 (which i think is stock) has a diameter of 25.6"
however...making a 19" wheel look good (in regards to fender gap and ride height) is another story.

that is going to be a really short sidewall. i dont like them when the look like all wheel and no tire. what kind of 19"s are you going with? and ya those big wheels are going to be bad on the ride. h/o let me find a guy on here he has 19" boze wheels and i believe he is running intrax he should be able to help you out alot....

his name is shawn19jgr i think here is his cardomain page... 1991 Chevrolet Camaro - April's Chevrolet "1991 Z28"
his name is either shawn18 or 19jgr i cant remember. hope this helps and good luck with your car.
i will be running Sportmax 962's (which have been poopping up a lot lately on here). i got them for my jetta a while ago and liked them so much i got a set for the maro!
yea i will defenitly be riding on rubber bands but it isnt my daily so i can hopefully get away with it.
I have an Intrax 2" drop purchased at SUMMIT Racing ($179.99) the best place to buy from.
Our roads here in Ohio are fantastic...I think it rides as excpected no worse no better. It's by far not a lowrider or looks slammed with the large wheels I have. It gives my car a race car pro touring look. Not much fender well gap just what I was looking to cut. I DO AVOID BAD RAILROAD TRACKS I have em all mapped out. I don't want to lose my lower airdam (deflector) that is inches away.
The only downside so far is the lower airdam underneith scrapes up cats, possums,or anything in that a.k.a roadkill catagory.
I don't get as much opportunity as I would like to drive the car. Mostly here and there and short hops. A night out on the town with the wife or to dinner or just whenever I havethe urge to drive it. Hopefully to some Camaro shows this year and car shows and things like that.
ive defenitly seen the car...one of the most beautiflul on the board [background pic].
looks like im going with the intrax then...even though you have 20's in the back i love the way the car stands. looks good up front with your 19's so i hope all 4 of mine will look nice.
Dropzones slammed the heck outta mine. I think every set of dropzones are different. I wasn't expecting it to be this low. I've searched for pictures with these springs and the cars are about an inch or two higher than mine. Now I'm always worried about the trans and oil pans! Stay away from the Zenn springs. They sit too high in the front.
go air, hell ever since i put the rs on bags its tempting to put everything down low, and that nasty stance

ya your car looks sexy but i cant afford air unfortunatly.
now i just need to find out which springs to buy. summit lists two part numbers for camaros. im pretty sure this INT-25-1-004 is the one i need. anyone wanna double check me?
shawn18jgr...when you installed the intrax springs did you retain the coil spring isolators?
dropzones were also on the list but i havnt heard enough about them...
The shortest spring I've ever run was 8" tall in the front and 9" tall in the rear. Keep in mind now a stock spring is around 14" tall. An 8" tall spring by itself would leave the car completely bottomed out and un-drivable. I'm using the 8" spring setup with adjustable weight jacks for ride height adjustability on my IROC-Z, the weight jacks themselves take up about 2 and 1/2" of space at full lock down and offer around 2" of adjustability. On my Z28 I'm running 10" tall springs in the front with weight jacks, but also 2 inch drop spindles so in effect I get the same ride height capabilities as I do in my IROC-Z but better geometry. If you really wanna go low with a static drop dont mess around with off the shelf springs. You gotta go custom man, either Eibach race springs or something like Suspension Spring Specialists. I used to get my springs through Ground Control but these days they only offer Eibach springs. You can go through circle track places to get the SSS springs, and springs made by other similar manufacturers that allow you to specify spring OD, height, and spring rate. Here's a pic of my IROC-Z with the 8" spring in front and 9" in the rear (keep in mind the height is adjustable):
If you want more info on those weight jacks try a search I made a thread about it with alot of pics and stuff. And in fact right now I got a set of front weight jacks (weld in) I'm trying to sell, they would allow you to adjust the front ride height from under the hood. I also got a 8" tall front Eibach roadrace springs 900# static linear rate for sale, PM if interested.
*** i love the stance on your IROC. i definitly want to go low but am still on a budget. until i can get a tranny and rear (lightyears from now...even though thats a measure of distance...) i wont be doing much with the car except slow easy weekend cruises.
ive realized that this car wont get much else but some occasional strip time so i can live with an incorrect geometry. i need an entire new suspension anyway, all adjustable.
i did start to look at your weight jacks, but at 2:30am however, things get a little cloudy. ill look a little more into it today i just love the way shawn18jgr's car stands and hes on intrax and 19/20's
havnt got around to looking into the weight jack thing just yet but i did cover all the lowering springs.
(all numbers estimates...one spring can result in different drops for different cars, yes even eibach)
Eibach
pro kit = 1"
sportlines = 1.8"
dropzone = 2"
intrax = 2"
sprint = advertised 1.75"
jamex = 1.5"
suspension techniques (which i now have and cut, twice) = 1.5"
hotchkis = 1.5"
eibach are defenitly the "best" when it comes to quality from what ive researched.
the intrax and dropzone both get equal pros and cons. most cons however come from those that have never owned them. the main con being they sag. some do and some dont, some will ride well and some wont these depend on the individual car.
jamex i cant find anywhere for sale anymore. not a ton of info on them on the boards anyway.
sprint seems to be decent. once again not too much info on them. there is a set on ebay for a good price ($160 shipped) and they advertise 1.75" all the way around. but the lack of info strays me.
suspension techniques, even though i have them, i couldnt give much info on them. its been forever since ive driven the car let alone with the stock springs to compare. it did lower then car but not a ton. ive cut them twice.
hotchkis make good springs from what i hear but dont have a big drop.
MY CONCLUSIONS...
if you are more into performance (and the better looks of a slightly lowered car) i would go with the tried and true Eibach prokit. you, however, wont get much lower than stock (especially if you are sagging).
if you are into just a slammed look and wont be pushing the car or putting a ton of stress on it intrax or dropzone are good candidates (especially the prices)
im trying to tuck 19's so i need something low. i dont feel safe riding on cut springs anymore but more than that i just dont want to have to cut my springs.
so...im going with intrax (unless this weight jack thing is cheap enough). the sportlines are nice and low but for $60 less i can go lower with the intrax (from what ive seen). the only reason im paying $180 for the intrax over the supposed $100 for the dropzones is because i cant find the dropzones for sale for our cars anymore.

If you are into performance you will probably want to consider the spring rates of all these springs you're considering. That number alone is not an exact indication of performance but you'll have a better idea of what springs best match your current setup (as far as swaybars and struts/shocks). Right now you are just going based off ride heights which is not really an indication of performance to be honest (take the Eibach Sportline Springs for example). The other thing about the weight jacks, they are used with custom length springs. So you dont actually need the weight jacks if you know how tall of a spring you want, you can just order the spring to your spec and run it by itself with no adjustability. A stock spring is around 14" tall, eibach springs like pro-kit and sportline between 13" to 12" tall, so on and so forth.
do you happen to have any pics of the springs installed on your car??
ive researched the dropzones usually give a 2" drop but they advertise a 1.75 and 1.5 drop
yea those dropzones on your car look sick...that is one hell of a drop. mind giving some other specs on the suspension? anything to correct the geometry? are you running old, new, or no coil spring isolators? did you cut the dropzones at all?
these dropzones are looking much better, i wish i still couldnt find them anywhere then i would have to go with the Intrax. saving $100 helps the dropzones out a lot i just hope they are low enough for my 19's. i know the intrax fit well with big wheels, shawn18jgr is running 19's and 20's with intrax and has a nice stance and maroon88iroc is sitting pretty much perfect with them on 17's.
BTW...those 14's are perfect candidates for slicks and track use!
can anyone suggest the dropzones over the intrax or visa versa??? (forget the cost. id rather have the cheaper dropzones if they will give the same look but if the dropzones wont work out well ill spend the extra to get the intrax.
I'm running old isolators, nothing to correct geometry, and no cutting. I trimmed the front bumpstops down to give me some more travel. I removed the rear bumpstops until I have time to trim them. I might try removing the rear isolators to see how it would look, but I want to keep a slight rake. It's very close to the way I want it in the rear, so removing the isolators may be too much.
im still having a tough time deciding on the intrax or cheaper dropzones....anyone care to give their input??
Intrax are fine, the rears seem to be a little soft IMO. I traded mine for a set of Moog IROC springs.
TOO much drop for me, so i said forget the whole thing, I'm going stock. lol.
I have a sport coupe though. Going for the sleeper deal.

Sorry guys, I wasnt trying to say Sportlines suck or anything. I was trying to point out that the ride height alone should not be an indication of the performance. I used Sportlines as an example because compared to the Prokit they sit lower but also have softer spring rates. My personal opinion after trying both, I thought the Prokit was the better setup. But again, just my personal opinion. At a certain point a lower ride height spring with a softer rate is a combination that will increase the possibilities of bottoming out the suspension. I dont think the Sportlines are really in this category, but they are pretty close in my opinion. Thats why I think its important to consider the spring rate when you want to really lower the car. 2 inch drop is pretty extreme. If the springs are too soft you might end up with a car that bottoms out alot, especially if the shocks/struts are not in 100% good condition.
The weight jacks are great because you can adjust the ride height after the fact. So if you aren't 100% satisfied with the ride height and/or you are experiencing rubbing or bottoming out you can make the adjustments you need without having to buy new springs or cut the spring, or swap em out or whatever. But for those people that dont need or want adjustability, I still think they should look into the weight jacks purely for the information on the custom ordered springs you use with weight jacks. You can still order a custom spring for our cars that will not require a weight jack and you get the ride height you want and spring rate you want. I guess bottom line is that off-the-shelf springs are not the only options you have. Good luck!!
For what it's worth I put sportlines and bilstiens on my car, HD's up front and sports in the back. I also have spohn SFC's, LCA's, relocation brackets, poly everything, 36mm/24mm sway bars, wonder bar, spohn adj. panhard bar.
I am very impressed how it rides, it's firm but doesn't rattle your kidneys. Given today is my first day driving it. I will have to find some rough roads. The car has a really good stance on it. I will get some pics this week. I haven't put my GTA wheels on it yet, it has the factory 15inch wheels on it with tires that are to wide for the 7 inch wide wheel.
I am getting the car aligned tomorrow, it drives straight, but when you turn sharp and get on the gas the car wants to dart to that direction real quick. I don't know if thats oversteer or understeer.
I don't plan on auto x the car, but do want a good handling, good looking car. I doubt that I will test the limits of my suspenion. however, in the begining of may we start EVO in the academy so I will be learning on how to drive fast, safely.

4 year old thread (lol)
Looks like Intrax does not make Camaro springs anymore.
Re: What are the LOWEST lowering springs you can buy?
Do it once & do it right. Go with Ground Control Weight Jacks. That way you are not stuck with what ride height the springs give you, you can adjust it up or down by 2" (from center). I got mine top ride just above the height of a parking curb so that when I park there is no chance of ever hitting the nose. I'm about 1/2" taller than a parking curb.
