SnkSknrZ28: How did do you like that LS1? How much you putting down? around 600? How offten you drive it? Like is it your DD? Also what kinda MPG are you getting?
I am asking a lot cuz I am getting bad gas milage with my setup and am scoting out what are my best options. Thanks for any insight. If you want you can PM me your reply.

lol since when is gas milage a concern when building a 385? maybe you should get a beater car
I built a 385ci w/TPIS Mini-Ram managed by a FAST Bank to bank. I don't keep track of in town gas milage, but on the HWY I gat 22mpg if I cruise around 75 and don't get carried away passing..

It almost looks like theres something missing on the spoiler. I've seen them with 3rd brake lights, is there a kit you can use for that? Maybe it wouldn't look so "empty" if it was black
looking good KillerZ302, what did you use on the tail lights? was it hard to do. Nice project. keep it up man -Matt

I used the Testors Candy Apple Translucent Paint made for model cars, Sprayed it on the inside. I dont know how it makes the orange plastic red from just spraying the inside, but hey it works. Then I polished the outside a little with plastic polish.
Theres a coule of post here on how to do it
Oh, and I love the yellow. reminds me of my yellow TT 88 Iroc which is currently under the knife

Reason: add on
92RS, the paint is original Medium Orange Metallic from 1988, only a few select were produce, i think most of them have been repainted since 88, i dont think it was a popular color back then, now with the SOM cars being popular it definately makes mine stand out.
dennisbernal91z:
I absolutely love the LS1, i went from a carb'd 383 with a 250 direct port setup totalling approx 800hp to this LS1, its just a heads/cam/ls6 inake and nitrous combo but it hauls the mail, very fast, i think i'd take my 383 honestly. The LS1 with the heads/cam is dyno'in 450rwhp, i havnt dyno'd it with the spray but with a 150wet shot it usually shows that at the wheels, so i'd predict 600rwhp give or take. As for mpg, lol I love it, I drive it all over the place, all day, its not my daily driver but i treat it like it is, i put more miles on it than my daily driver, and i go thru 3/4 of a tank of gas every week and a half? I havnt figured it out but its around 25+mpg, i love 6th gear 6th gear + 70mph = 1700rpm Just pulled the motor for the year and i'm bulding a bottom end to handle more spray. can never be too fast. On a sidenote, my best friend has an 87 iroc with a carb'd 383, and he has to put 25 buck in his gas tank every evening lol, its fast but not cheap!
OK sorry, back on the rear car pix!! I would post more pix of my car but i dont wanna whore out this thread
Those sound like great #s. i will be looking into the LS1 idea in the next few years it looks like. This is my first car build and first motor and it has less than 3200 miles on it. I will try this out for a couple years and plan an LS1 with a single turbo or supercharger I think.
Joe, i really like those two u posted. the car is so clean it looks like that pic was taken in 1988!
Kingsize: what size are your rear wheels and tires? that looks totally badass!
They are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's 315/35/17 on a 17x10 wheel. The car is still under construction though and I am thinking of getting them widened to 11" as there is still quite alot of space left under the wheelwell. Thanks for the comment!
yea it does, what color is yours? mine sonic blue pearl
Mines repainted the factory color 'bright blue" with more metallics. It looks a lot like yours though, especially the shine. Your blackouts looks really good BTW, Not to many look good with them, I also like your Iroc rims, what size are those?

I believe he has 18's on his car. My girlfriend has the 17's on her IROC and the sidewall on his look a bit thinner. His car is sweet.

That car is awesome. It would be even better if you lowered it, escecially in the front. Just my opinion though.

Thanks!!! I agree with you, but the roads here in Maine are way to harsh for me to be able to lower it...I wouldn't have a front bumper or ground effects within a day if I did. I like driving it too much for that. If I only took it to shows (or if I move out of state ) I'd lower it. I still want to do something about the exhaust tips eventually. I don't care for how they look, but they came off my other car and they're working for now...
I'm normally a fan of no visible exhaust tips on 3rd gens due to the bumper line, but I honestly didn't even notice til you mentioned it.
I think that maybe tinting it would be sweet too. Helps protect the interior as well as add to looks. Heres a quater shot of mine to show tinting.... no photoshop.
Maybe not that dark, but some. I've been lucky not to get ticketed ALOT.
