A 3" jongblown for $350.00 or 2" regular cowl for $375.00 which one would some of you consider? Whats your opnion of these hoods from those of you who already own them?
Thanks.
From what I can tell the look the same from the outside. What is it that makes the jongblow (if thats even how you spell it), better than the regular cowl hood. I know hawks want somthing like $469 for one. J&T Fiberglass makes it for them. You can buy it direct from J&T for $350.00 if you do the finish work on the underside yourself which is rather easy.
So, what makes the jongblown better than the regular cowl? is it air distrubution, or what?
----------
Is anyone familar with J&T fiberglass? How are their products?

I think the jongbloed (not sure if thats right...cant it be an easier name?) looks alot better because it follows the line of the original hood style, the cowl doesnt seem to match the car, regular cowl is too square in my opinion

I agree. The only thing I dislike is the ridge in the middle, but that can be sanded down. The jongbloed follows the lines of the car much better.
ill help ya out . The jongbloed looks good because its wide just like ths nose of the camaro . I think it looks great . I dont see too many on here with the hood so it would be cool to get the hood . here some pics. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/715889/4
Thanks for all the comments and the pics. Those cars really look awsome with that hood. It really sets them off. I ordered one yesterday evening from G&T Fiberglass. He said I should have it in about 2.5 week. Total cost including shipping was $469.00. $350 for the hod, $15 packing fee, and $104 shipping.
After I get this hood I should have her painted within two weeks. I plan to go with jet black base coat/clearcoat, and med silver metallic stripes from front to back.
I'll post pics when complete.

Yea i like the Jongblown, but does anyone have a pic of one on a red camaro. Im buying a hood soon and would like to get an idea of how it will look. Also do they make the jongblown in a lift off style.
G&T Fiberglass has it. They have a rotating banner ad on this site. G&T makes it for Hawks. Why not just buy it directly from the Maunfacter?. G&T says they are the only manufactorers of the Jongblown hood. It was designed specifically for the third generation F-body, and they purchased the mold from the designer.
I'll post pics of it once I install it on the car and then again after we paint it.
the Jongblown hood is the ugliest hood made for these cars bottom line. i would never ever consider it for anything i build but i have different tastes than others i know and it is just my opinion.
Dear Jebus, how do you fit in the car?! I'm 6'2 and I wish the seat went back just one more notch as it is...
On my 5th 3rd gen now, and I've never considered it a problem. Now, in my '65 VW Beetle I had years ago...I actually moved the seat back, drilled new holes in the floor, and remounted it!
Anyways...Anybody know how to ship a steel hood? I'm considering getting a new 'glass hood for my GTA, but need to sell off the GTA hood I got to replace the one Bambi took out.
Triangle looking one? If you are referring to the Jongbloed, there is only 1 Jongbloed hood, and 1 place to get it. Follow the grooves in your stock hood. Everything between the grooves is raised. Front low, rear high.
If you are referring tothestandardcowl induction ood, they are all like the same really.

I first saw the Jongbloed hood in Popular Hot Rodding around 1984. They used the hood on a red with black striped project car. It was a 4 or 5 issue project car (Camaro vs. Mustang vs. Shelby Dodge). Back then it was available from and made by Jongbloed http://www.jongbloedracing.com/ Jongbloed makes wheels for alot of SCCA racers.
A few Chevrolet dealers carried them. About 7 years ago, a fellow club member bought 2 for $150 each from a dealership that just wanted to get rid of them. That's his blue Camaro in the picture. If anyone is interested, I might be able to post some photos of the hood from the Popular Hot Rodding articles.
I got mine from G&T Fiberglass. They are the makers of it, other may sell it, but they have the molds. It only took a couple weeks, but that was about 2 years ago.
There is a thread about them being real slow now. Look in the vendor forum.
That thread is why I asked where you got it from, & when. And Jongbloed originally made & sold it, then G&T bought the mold. And yeah, they are the only makers, of a hood that style (cowl between the OEM creases).
Nobody else sells it. So, they came from Jongbloed when they were originally produced, or from G&T, after they bought the mold.
