Wet sanding single stage paint

Will wet sanding mess up the metallic if it is in single stage paint?

The paint experts will know more about this, but I think you have to clearcoat it then colorsand the clear. How 'bout it, painters?

single stage urethane will buff out fine,, the thing is is not digging in deep,,, usually the last coat on a metallic is the one that makes the metallic even looking,, if you start to dig into the paint with sanding you run the risk of seeing paint lines or thick/thin spots of metallic. Cleaqniong all waxes/silicones & a light scuff (like a Scotch Brite pad)of the existing paint & a clear coat would be a better way to go,, IMO.

BTW,,,, I consider myself in no way an 'expert'
