This is ironic to say the least. I just got back from picking up some groceries and a slight wreck involving a 4th gen red Firebird had be blocked in my parking space... then I come home, jump on here for a sec and I see this. lol.
Please tell us that it survived and you are fixing it back up?
Here are some better pics before accident http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2040144 Im sure glad I had collector car Insurance or I would have been taken to the cleaners, If your car is worth something get a appraisal ASAP.
Look at this one it makes me cry to this day. It was my dads 1991 rs Camaro convertible. it had 25k miles, all orig paperwork, orig owner car from when my dad bought it from him. it was a beautiful car.. but my older brother got a hold of it and wrecked it. 3 years ago it happened and It still hurts me today.
before..
After, he was racing a guy in a ford f150 and someone pulled out in front of him. he slammed on the brakes lost control hit a bunch of curbs twice left once right and the rear end was sheared off and the rear swung around into a tree
these are pictures 3 years afterwards. Liability insurance so it was a total loss. Thats the reason why we bought my 92 rs camaro. To swap the perfect interior/motor into my car so they don't go to waste.
Thats my interior for my white car now.
AND For everyones information.. Dont race. for the sake of third gens and your life dont race.

Got caught in some torrential downpours which quickly flooded the back roads. Went around a turn going about 30-35 mph, car hydroplaned and proceeded to do a 180 over to the other side of the road, go off the road and wrap around a telephone pole.

Mine went to the inpound yard, it was only there for about 48hrs , got my insurance check in lightning speed ,then someone with a enclosed trailer came and picked it up ,but I dont know who. the guys at the savage yard had never seen something go that fast.
Not as bad as the others, but still not good....this happened in Jan '06, she's still in the garage awaiting parts...not easy to find good T/A fenders around Kansas. Other than that, just need to cut out and weld in the new radiator support and I'm good to go...

I wouldn't doubt if yours is sitting in someones garage with a rebuilt title.
I dont know how it works in the U.S. but in Canada once you receive the insurance check ,the car is no longer yours, I probably could have inquired about buying it back, but I was so upset at the time ,that my family and myself just wanted to put it behind us. It may have been repaired by someone or they put the low milage engine in something else.
Once you accept an insurance check the car is no longer yours, it belongs to the insurance company. They can then sell it to whoever they want to. I tried to buy back my '94 Cutlass after I totalled it, but it was too big of a hassle.

The key is to talk over the buyback issue before settling on a value for them to write the check. Makes it all go smooth. I've bought back quite a few cars and they just deduct the salvage value form the settlement check, then it stays as your car....

thats what i did, almost no hassle at all just a paper to sign

That's what I did...Think it cost me $150 to get back Spohn adj torque arm,Vig. converter,Brand new Bilstein shocks/struts just to name a few things
If you were referring to my incident, I went back later that day to wish my car goodbye because i knew it wouldn't be at the gas station that it was towed to for long. I pulled the Heritage Decklid badge off for memories and then my dad went back the next day to get the trunk glove box with the RPO codes in case the insurance company tried to dispute the fact that it was a true Heritage Car. Got the insurance check like 2 weeks later and within a few days of that happening the car was bought by someone.

I remember seeing a thread about that, easily one of the worst Camaro wrecks I've seen, your a lucky man to have escaped that with no serious injuries!

Could be like mine and get smashed just sitting in the yard.
My '91 1le after hitting a deer in wet conditions, sliding into a ditch & hitting a tree. Unfortunately the whole body was tweaked, even with the frame connectors, there was a huge crack in the paint on the opposite quarter panel from it twisting & a whole lot more dents...since parted out (back in '02) and has parts in numerous cars on this site! LOL Oh yeah, only had 23K miles on it....

this thread makes me sad lol
sonymaster- that wreck looks very fixable, with that low of mileage on it it may have been worth it to have it fixed.
I know it looked fixable, but my dad didnt want to wrench on it. it was his baby that my brother destroyed and you think he wanted to wrench on that original car? The extent of the damage wasnt just through out the rear quarter, it was through out the whole car. throwing EVERYTHING out of wack.all the struts, Arms, wheels, brakes etc are all bent. so my dad said here you can have the car, ill get you an old beat up one, you fix it up and take the parts off the red one.. so thats what ive been doing.
And also my dad could have easily have done it, he and his dad owned a bodyshop a long time ago and still have it so he had connections to a frame jig. And another final thing, a new body shop nowadays wouldn't have even fixed it right. it would have probably been dog tracking down the road after they got through with it.
Thats why i have my 92 rs :-/ i hate to see that car go down but **** it was a HARD LICK the car spun around at 60 and went into a tree. tough tough cars these are..
I dont know, mabye one of these days I may try to straighten it. just not today. Ill probaly get an old rs v6 get all the components, and totaly rebuild it..

First time someone backed into me and messed up the paint on the rear bumper. Probably have pictures somewhere, but I can't find them.
Next, I rearended a lady in a Yukon. Had to replace the bumper, ground effect, grille, impact bar, impact absorber, and the hood latch support.
Then some dude rear ended me, paid me cash and I took the rear bumper off and had it fixed and painted and then used the rest of the money to buy tires.
And finally, I got backed into again. Another new front bumper, grille, impact absorber (which I didn't put on and I'm trying to sell), and some dent repair on the hood.
this thread makes us appreciate our clean thirdgens and is a good place to vent... no lock!
my friend was simulating a dry hump on my car and dented the drivers fender just in front of the door... right in the crease where it wont come out... ( doesnt show well in pics tho.) and one time when i was backing into my garage the metal frame from a bed fell onto the rear 1/4 denting it and leavin a brown scratch... other than that my baby is pretty clean.
Just today i back my ex gf car into a bush hahah not on purpose but it scratched the bumper a bit... lol
