Would be cool, but would probably cost almost the price of a Lamborghini. Way to expensive and probably not worth all of the effort and work.

i doubt it would work, the way the tops of out windows fit into the t-tops or roof would be extremly hard to modify to allow the door to open upwards.....

You coudlnt do it with the doors on the car now. You'd have to use doors that were intended to be gull wing doors, they'd have to be cut to fit, and you'd have to figure out somehow to make the hinges work, and the latch. In other words, you'd need a lot of patience and money and a body shop at your disposal

thanks for the comments , well i thought about this alot and yeah the window sits in it wont work inless you can somehow have the whole door slide out about 2 inches then go up would have to trim about a half an inch form the windsheild ledge and bend the front fender out a tad to make the door slide in behind it but you be amazed with what a body shop can do , allso i thought about the old dolorien doors the kind that go out and up , but would be a pain in tight aeras but still cool

lol @ ZBRA, i was thinking the same thing. OUr doors are definitely some of the heaviest made, no way i'd want to lift 'em to get out. Custom 'glass doors would be in order, probably best to modify the roof and use a full window frame set-up too.

Actually Lambo doors open on an angle, not straight up, which I think would be better anyway than Gull-Wing type doors that do open straight up.

No kidding ZBRA~ OUCH!! lol. The doors on these pigs aren't full-framed anyways, the glass would never be able to hold the weight of one of these midieval drawbridges. Cool idea, though. Maybe you should submit it to Ron Popeil (you know, the guy who sells spray-on hair in a can), and he can figure somethin' out. Late ~J~

Just a thought but what if you put the hinge in the middle by the bar between the T-tops and made the tops and doors one piece? Definitely sounds like custom work involving some lexan or plexiglass and a lot of fiberglass.

I've got pics of a mustang that has had the doors converted to Lambo style.

Are you still thinking about this?

Maybe or maybe not... but I would have to give some serious "we're not worthy" props to someone who could pull it off and make it work reliably and safely.

Like on of the other uys mentioned.. what about if the doors rotated forward instead of a gull wing.. I think these doors first move out then rotate up.. so it would be no problem for our doors.. I wonder if there is enough metal to do this..

I'd assume a frameless window wouldn't be a problem.

Well if any have actually looked at a eclipse their doors work the same as ours. No upper frame rail, just a soft rubber seal. How I would say it works on that eclipse is the door is loaded an a expandable rod(so it can move out some) and set at a slight outward angle(so it opens slightly sideways). The rubber can "form" over the closed window the same as it does now.
So what can support the weight of the door you ask?. Try an automobile shock. Yes amazed fans I am sure this will be more than able to support the 60-70 pound doors of ours. Now you have to be like the lambo and have a grab strap to pull the door down, which should not be that much effort considering the shock already has 60-70 pounds or so to push it down. So I would guess a slight tug would suffice.
As we all know the challenge would be to find the area and angles to mount the shock in. But I do not think it would be hard to mount a 3 inch by 14 inch shock anywhere though. You would have to mount it to a bracket so it expanded down and not up though.

So if any besides me are really curious to get some ideas to get this to work have fun...Its gonna be a mind frier.

Well, never seen a pic of one either, but I've thought of this for ever. I've seen the mustang with them and it cost a crap load. I was thinking if someone could make a circular thing to be placed around where the upper hing is and it could push the door outwards and then turn so the door would go up, I've never went out and looked at my door to plan something like that though. But the weight of the door might be a problem. Well now I've gave my secrete away, I'll never be a millionaire

There is an article in one of those ford and mustang mags about a gull-wing mustang, the doors popout about 4-6 in. and then rotate up they also have a feature to where they can open normally for emergencies or battery failure. They opened with the push of a button. They said the guys that did it own a body shop in Michigan or something and can do it to just about any car for $10,000 or some ungodly amount of $ to spend on cool doors.
