hey guys i posted a thread a while back about getting off window tint glue, i was messing around in the barn yesterday and ive found the answer, super tech engine degressor, only at wal mart, of all places. it takes that glue right off.

Ok what about using this on the back glass with rear defrost, will it remove the defroster lines?

I very highly doubt it. Defroster lines should be ok as long as you dont scrape them with a razor or something.

I will definitely try this out, got some purple tint on the back glass thats been really bugging me

i was messing in the shop today, and good old brake clean works just as well, and its half as expensive, go figure.

i removed rear hatch of my 88s/c with defrost grid . placed upside down , removed easy stuff . sprayed down with ammonia window cleaner , got good & wet . covered with cut up black trash bags , let set over night . next day just a little elbow grease & paper towels . nice clean glass no harm to defrost grid . worked for me . good luck .

yea i have done this too, and the brake clean works much much better. it eats the stuff and turns it soft as soon as it hits.

Windex and a razor

I used one of those steamers like you would for getting the wrinkles out of clothes or drapes. It softened the glue and the tint peeled right off. Then while the glue was soft I sprayed the window with some ammonia window cleaner and the leftover glue cleaned right up. Didn't hurt the defrost grid either and no harsh chemicals.

Ya know, I saw this thread, and realized that my back window was plagued by the glue problem as well. I tried some brake parts cleaner and a magic eraser, and it worked decently well, but only for the few seconds it was wet, I got halfway through it and realized that the magic eraser was doing more.

I went to the checker/oreilly to buy stuff I didn't need, and asked one of the guys their and he said he tried brake parts cleaner and it worked decently, but then he tried something else "Carb. Starter fluid" . I bought a can of theirs for like a buck or 2 and took it home.

The glue literally turned to GOO and I was able to pull it off with a paper towel and finished the job in 15 minutes. That stuff is hell on your skin though, but it works!!

Since this is at least the same subject, im posting my tint question here. I do not live very close to any stores that carry purified water (Distilled water). Can I just use the filtered water tap, that I have on my sink? The water is good to drink, I know that much, but is it good for tint, or do I need the distilled water for sure?

Even the cleanest filtered drinking water has minerals and other microscopic tidbits in it. You can use it, but your tint job will come out better and last longer with Distilled water.

I ended up going to walmart for the water. Found some maro parts for sale 30 miles away. I got a pretty nice red (same color) louvered hood, & one z-28 tail light. Guy told me the tail lights, & shift plate where in good shape too, but they where both cracked. So I got the hood, & one tail light for $50. Pretty cool. I pulled the stock hood before I left, & bolted the "new" one up in the guy's driveway. Easy way to get it home lol.

"Goo Gone" works very well too!

I was browsing the internet and a few forums said that the professionals use a 50/50 mix of windex and 409. It was a installer secret

I don't know about brake cleaner and similiar products in the hatch area, I guess you have to lay a plastic tarp on the interior to keep from making a mess...that's harsh stuff.

brake clean doesnt harm carpet/ interior plastic, i use it to take out stains constantly in customer cars, and it evaporates rather quickly, the only bad thing about break clean is its hard on your hands, and the fumes are bad.
