Took my 88 convert into the shop for a fuel pump replacement. Now the gas tank door is real loose and like it doesn't have spring to it anymore. What the hell did they do? did they leave some parts or screws off?
they may have lost/broken the spring for the door . open door , you should be able to see spring under hinge part . good luck . ( were you at C.T.C. 2007 ? think i met you there . )
Yes UncleTom,
I did meet you at cruising the coast 2007, didn't make 2008. Car has not run since August. Finally had to take it to shop. Cost an arm and a leg but I wanted it done right by dropping the rear end and tank to replace the fuel pump and sending unit.
I got ripped because I didn't want to pull that rearend and tank myself. Pump was $115 sending unit was $329 (was very hard to find the right one. took a week. part no FPG-02). Theres plenty of FPH's, FPJ's, FPK's, FPl's but NO FPG's. Actually one place wanted $580 for the sending unit. YES, I know it's a damn $40 part but when there is none to be found they charge what the hell they want. Fuel filter was $34 (a $10 part at autozone) and the rest was labor. Also, there's not to many shops that will let you bring your own parts because they can't jack the price by 300%. But the damn car is running and not sitting in the garage for 8 months like it was. Guess we got way off track on this post that was listed under appearance.
