Stripped and Refinished Stock Formula Rims/Wheels. What do ya'll think?
So this is the stock rim with the outer lip restored. (Sorry forgot to take one before.).
Pic of car before paint---
This is after I stripped them and repainted them...
So the process was as follows:
1. I masked off the inner lip where the rim meets the lip.
2. Used Aircraft Stripper and applied heavily all the way around the rim. (BTW Use Gloves. It is similar to acid. The burning through the fingers part. Learned that the hard way.
3. Used super fine steel wool (0000) to remove stock clearcoat.
3.a. Repeated Step 2 if needed.
4. USE A TOOTHBRUSH to get in the small areas.
5. Wipe off with a paper towel. Or many.
6. Spray down with water.
7. And i Used EAGLE One Never Dull which works wonders on any dull or faded metal.
Paint Stage...
1. Mask off finished lip.
2. Paint it.*
*It is a helluva lot easier to paint in the holes in you stand the wheel up and paint through the back.
Color is Metallic Black. But you cant see the metallic in the pics.
So what do you guys think?
