If this belongs in the "fabrication" topic.Mods please move, if needed.Anyway,I started with escalade/jag/other makes projectors. These are from a jag.Valeo brand, 2.5dia,6 3/4 long,D1s type lamps.
Cheap ebay "fake" projector 4656 headlamps.
Most of it wont be used.
Bored to hell for projector fit.Lense removed, fake

Thanks, I wont have to touch anything on the car to fit these....well almost. At most i may need to enlarge the hole on the headlight bucket. To accomodate the back of the projectors.
Pic of the template(white)ill be using to make adapters for the back of the ebay lamps.
Adapters (brown) glassed on already.
How they'll be mounted once done.
Will that fiberglass be able to withstand the heat from the projectors?
The ebay lamps are fiberglass, lense is glass .So ive no doubt my glassing will survive.Plus they'll have lots of ventilation

I used a heatgun. You can also use an oven.I did this when i retrofitted projectors on my yellow bike. You can also try an exacto knife & just cut the adhesive.
Here's a few more pics
Except for the OEM buckets, ready to mount.

i would get two more projectors and do the hi beams....even if you dont wire them in....or use the ebay fake projector ones in there....it will look better.....

I thought about that too.The Xenarc system even uses an H4 bulb in the hi-beam.Same as the fakes. So it would be an effortless swap, but i cant remember the last time i used my Hi's.I also have two extra hi beam projectors.Ill wait & see though.Right now i like the way it looks.

Very cool! I bought the same lights for my car.I had to return a set because the brackets that hold the projector on had popped off.
You did a really nice job with them!
Where did you pick up the projectors and the housings up for so cheap? And was that including the bulbs? What did you do about the ballasts and the wiring?

Where there's a will there's a way.Maybe that that exact projector, but another.I put even bigger projectors in my triumph. The amount of space on that(or any) bike is smaller than most cars.
For ebay, just go to "lighting & lamps" category. The type "projectors" in the search bar.You will get OEM projectors in the results. The other methods you will see TONS of aftermarket sh!t, plus hundreds of the fakes as well.
Good work on the fab. Always a fan of people custom making things they want when they're not available, or at least not at a good price.
...that being said though, and I know I'm in the minority, but I've felt no matter how much technology and R and D goes into it light, it's still just that. LIGHT. ...and short of blinding oncoming traffic, and being able to see ALL THE WAY TO YOUR DESTINATION.... ...there's no real need for "better" light.
Like I said, I know my opinion is in the minority, and it's just that, an opinion. Either way, nice work.
If your blinding traffic its more likely your lamps are NOT aimed properly.Projectors, well project light in the proper place. That combined with proper aiming of the headlights is better for everyone. No need to be driving around blinding oncoming traffic & thats my opinion!.

exactly!
Properly aimed HID projectors, is such an improvement over halogen sealed beam, there is no comparison really.
Like 1le said, if you're blinding other drivers, then they are not aimed properly. Quality projectors will have a cutoff, which keeps most of the light on the ground and out of the eyes of oncoming traffic. Some even have levelers built in too.

I've been driving for almost 20 years and have never had problems seeing where I was going at night.
Like I said though, it's all good and I admire the work. The mere fact that I even HAVE my Iroc is an exercise in desire, not necessity, so far be it for me to begrudge anyone for doing anything they want to do!!!
