Cleaning intake manifold

Hey guys I have an edelbrock performer rpm manifold and I was wondering what chemical is safe to clean it with. It's the basic aluminum finish. I know edelbrock sells a cleaner for it but I don't want to wait for it to come in the mail. I'm putting the engine back together now and I want to clean it real quick before I put it back on. They also say not to use carb cleaner as it will ruin the aluminum. What can I use to clean it that I can get from an auto parts store?
