Re: rear air diffuser

How functional is it? As in....What does the other end hook up to?/How it the belly pan arranged?

If it is purely cosmetic from behind, that is what r i c e r s do. High performance looking parts with zero function.

Looks sweet but not that efficient or functional. I planed to do a smiler thing back when i had another 3rdgen that i was building strictly for road racing, with belly pans front air dam etc etc

Re: rear air diffuser

probably not that efficient or functional
im not going to get into the whole physics on air turbulence and aerodynamics facts lol

because i mainly did it to cover that ugly cargo area.
and because i feel like its missing something or becuase i liked it on few road course vehicles.

i think it goes with the rest of the car.
maybe i need different tips. idk but i have to see it mounted for my last opinion
not sure if u guys seen Brent’s Chevrolet Camaro "Domestic Time Attack iroc" has something similar with out tips out to the rear.

its not a high performance part that was bought. because i made it.
my car is not a fully race style modded thirdgen yet. but is planned to see road course in the future.

but i might end up doing something different like a cme or borla's gtr series tips

Looking at your pics, I starting thinking....

Tuck the tips up into notches, like the 4th gen WS6 was, and put the diffuser between them.

Like these, but with your diffuser in place of the license plate......

i too have plans on making one, plus i would like to put a splitter panel on the front. i will use sheet metal and attach with dzus fasteners. i have to wait til i get back to more normal work space( usmc in california ). i am just worried how strong the fins will be????? i think it looks awesome if done right. i would even consider trying to do a whole under body panel.

Re: rear air diffuser

TPI, I think the whole concept is good and it goes well with the car however the ovalrounded tips on a car that is angled and edged in every place possible does create a bit of a conflict. Is it within your ability to mandrel bend some exhaust and mount both pipes in the center with the air diffuser on either side of it ?

Subscribed, thanks for the ideas, I LOVE the look of it, and I'm sure it works somewhat, but this is no Le Mans car either.

Anyway I'd like to do something like under body panels like shown above. Can't wait to start trying.

-Take care

That's the bottom of the Japanese drifting Camaro, with the carbon fiber hood, that everyone talks about, when they talk about carbon fiber hoods.

Re: rear air diffuser

Well if they can do it we can do it, but it will most likely cost 20x as much since we are Americans who like to charge $135 for an inhaler when Cuba sells the exact equivalent for $0.05 US which we (The USA) sold to them.

Anyway, I'd love someone to make us some bolt on panels (is it that hard to get done?) as well as a rear diffuser, mainly to smooth the underside of our cars.

Ill keep coming back for updates. Lets not let the Japanese take over American muscle, seems like they offer more for our cars over there than we do here, and when I say that I mean things we don't normally get here like these underbody panels, CF hoods and panels, awesome updated wings, badass exhausts...etc. Which I'm sure they reproduce and sell over there, or are willing to.

No problem. I have a large collection of old Hot Rod/Car Craft/Popular Hot Rodding/etc. magazines & happened to read that article. When I saw the rear air diffuser, I just had to scan it for you.

The front air splitter looks pretty easy to build really. I've thought about that on my GTAs nose ,too, since the underside already has a bunch of flat panels. I could finish it off.

But my car has a long way to go, before I start building that kind of stuff. Would look really stupid, right now, on my car.

Do you have specs on your build? I brought this idea up a few months back in the fabrication boards and caught flack over it. I still think it's a good idea and hopefully once I can get situated a little better I can work on building on for my car.

Hey Stephen, you wouldn't happen to have the Super Chevy "Project Silver Streak" buildup issues would ya? Thought I had saved those but can't seem to find them. I did have the Ericksson's Camaro article though..that thing is sweet.

that is nuts. cant figure out why they do it and leave the stock console there. for racing - the halo is too low. and the carpet takes up too much weight.
just looks stupid.

but if you want to see something really nice you should see tpi's car in person. so very hot - i wanted to trade but for some reason he did not want my old camaro in trade for his.
his loss. lol.
it is a mighty fine camaro.
and tpi thanks for that grill - worked out well. now i have to find a can of oem 90 camaro blue to touch up the front bumper - just until i can paint the entire thing.

Re: rear air diffuser

The Silver Streak Camaro was a giveaway project car. It was spread out through several issues, maybe 11 or so. Sweet car that you could enter for a chance to win. Wonder what ever happened to it.
