Paint for the interior?

i was lookin online for new interior panels for my 86 camaro but i couldn't find any. so would it be okay for me to paint them to the color that i want, because i saw a scratch on the dash of my dad's silverado and saw it was painted so there must be some kind of paint specifically for that purpose. if there's not can someone give me a link to a website that sells the interior panels. thanks

Re: Paint for the interior?

SEM makes a trim/dash paint. I have never used it so i am unable to tell you what kind of quality or results you can expect .... I read about it on here a few months back and i plan to use it on my own dash after i fix the cracks.

Re: Paint for the interior?

ok your local auto store napa autozone or wherever else should have the dupli color vinyl spray i have used it and it hardens over time but it is a cheap way to go about doing it until you have a good amount of money to buy all new interior. they have a flat black for sure and im not too sure about grey.

Re: Paint for the interior?

If you want to do it the right way go to napa or a paint supply store and get vinyl dye. Martin senior, dupont, etc carrys it. You can match it to what came stock. At napa it costed me with the reducer $120 for a half gallon which did my entire plastic set from red to black. You gotta spray it through a gun though.

Re: Paint for the interior?

I will deffinetly look into that interior paint. I want full black for my interior. But the question is, is there carpet I can buy to replace the stock carpet in the door panels?

Find a local upholstery shop. Also, Menards or other hardware stores sell black carpet, like maybe 25-50cents a square foot maybe a square yard...

Thanks, I will check it out. I didn't think it would be hard or expensive.

Re: Paint for the interior?

Someone mentioned a fabric paint to me on here last week, but never replied about it. Is there such a thing. I was looking at my fading, which you can't tell until the hatch is up, then there's that glorious "tan" line, tonneau cover and someone said I could "paint" it. Anyone know more about this?

Re: Paint for the interior?

My Dad was talking to me about the same exact thing today when I told him about getting new material for my car. But he just mentioned it and he was a mechanic. So I am sure it is out there, it's just a matter of finding it. I would just try to replace it with something like it or change the interior of the entire car to match, but that's me.
