This seems to be the current trend. Take an old car, put rims on it that are worth more than the car itself, ruin the interior with crazy hackjob electronics and audio, and never touch the drivetrain. Ha ha at least it has a "rebuilt motor". These cars are everywhere around where I live and it kills me to see a nice rust free old school thats been hacked to death.

Jay Leno was on RIDES today, I am pretty sure it was a rerun, building his 67ish Toronado and he said something like
the people who designed this cars went to college for design, they knew what they were doing. people lift the car to accommodate giant wheels and crazy chrome make the car look like a mastodon coming out of the tar pits.
that is not close to a direct quote but i do remember he made a comment about designers going to school and the mastodon coming out of the tar pits when he said it.
