so i just bought a red 89 and im thinkin about getting this done, does anybody have pics of their firebird with the bird on the hood, or have any insight as to how much that paint might cost me?
it would look cool , but very expensive . i have a friend ( retired body shop owner ) who said he once spent a full day getting the bird perfect on a 2nd. gen . . those are decals , painted would be even more . good luck .
If it's a regular Firebird, I know for fact it would look great because I almost bought one. But a TA.... How does a firebird logo look on a Trans Am hood with the luvers? Is it too much? There's less space for it and I'm not sure how the luvers would look with a decal right over top them.
I had a thirdgen bird on my '91 several years ago. I thought it looked sweet, but then again I was 20....
It took about a half hour to get centered, then it sits overnight, and takes about 10 min to peel off the backing in the morning. Well worth it I think.

I have toyed with the idea of a "ghost" bird on one of the third gen hoods. I don't think that full-on contrasting bird does them justice, they aren't quite as macho as the 2nd gens, so I thought a ghost bird would sort of go with the sleekness of the body. But just my . You would probably have to get it from Phoenix Graphics.
Yeah just to clarify, I don't think a full out 70s large bird filled with 5 different colors would look good either. The bird I was thinking of when I made my prior post was the more sleek outline one with an open interior, like this...
The Bandit special editions in the late 80s had them. A custom place out of Chattanooga put them together. Nothing custom about the glued on fake air breather or the 305 TBI they all had.
probably selling the hood..wanting to buy a 96-97 ram air replica but it is different and it was on when i bought the car..
Paint as in materials most likely not that much depending on colors but labor would be a bihh my fathers a retired painter that now sells and distributes to body shops that would be a hefty project
I love the phoenix. Many times I wish I had a 'bird just so I could sport one. I wouldnt get one painted on cuz that would cost wild money, and if you PROPERLY do it, it should look fine on a GTA hood. Since the car is red I would have either black or silver phoenix.
Dude that is sweet.. love seeing it when someone uses a knight rider nose as an aftermarket nose rather than the beginnings of a full KITT conversion. Nicely Done old bean!
