Hey all, I need some help here. I recently put black rally stripes on Cam. I wanted to then paint her eye buckets black to match.
Well, while contemplating that, and trying to decide flat or gloss black, I mentioned it to a friend, who then got the light bulb over his head and suggested I do them in the same vinyl as the stripes, since I have left over.
Great idea, but I am now having trouble getting a precise drawing to cut the vinyl with. I don't know anything about CAD. I tried to use aluminum foil, which is flexible, but too brittle. Lightweight butcher paper, which is good, but not flexible enough.
What I am trying to do is get the shape precise enough to not have to cut the vinyl on the car after applying. (Makes me nervous!) Am I dreaming about this being possible?
Thanks for any ideas you can come up with!

I don't have much knowledge about this stuff, but it seems possible to me. Try cardboard or something, like a box you have sitting around. It's worth a try!

Tape 11 x 14 paper (or bigger if needed)rolled out from between the headlights left and right going up the sides of the bucket to the bucket. Tape as if you want to cover the entire bucket plus another inch out. Extend the paper past the buckets. Take a marker and trace the buckets on the paper. Take paper intact of and lay flat. You now can clean up your lines and have a templet for your vinyl.
