I was thinking of doing the same thing. What I was going to do was paint the valve covers red and polishing the intake plenum and he runners. There is a tech article on polishing the intake and runners.

new valve covers from summit, a chrome alternator, polish your tpi stuff. not much cleaning you can do with a tpi set up, you got wires going everywhere and stuff just cluttering the hell out of it.

Re: need help 5.7l dress up

i tell you guys what... I have valve covers which are already painted red metallic and I'm in the middle of my tpi clean up... I sell them to one of you cheap... like 20 with shipping... As far as my tpi cleanup.. i'm polishing and replacing runners with edelbrock runner and the hi flow matching intake... also rewiring my harness to hise all the wires pipes and hoses...

You will need the TPI extension over the distributor from a Corvette, they got the aluminum extension... GM part number 10108425.....

Re: need help 5.7l dress up

i would keep it like how it is. but with some muscle u can get the engine rlly shiny on all the alluminum pieces and the plenium. i just use meguirs mag & alluminum polish its in a blk tin can and if u apply that then just buff rlly good and do it a couple more times ur start to get a actual reflection off it and it takes some time could be a couple hours if its your first time and if you do the whole engine and then on the rubber tubes just use armor all ultra shine protectand and the whole engine will look new. just make sure to have several terry clothes expecially if its your first time polishin it they get black FAST
