If he had locks, the key for them would most likely be in his console. If he doesn't have it (and if the car came with one, but I doubt it did OEM), did they break in & steal it too?
ANY car with custom or nice factory wheels, should have locks. SHOULD being the key word. Locks are cheap insurance.
BigBadGTA...yes there are. My firebird came with locking nuts that the plastic would go around. All nuts were normal expect for one which you had to have a special "key"(socket) for. I still have them and they are sitting in the bottom of my tool box. Some of the regular nuts are stripped out tho thats why i threw them in the bottom. I think advance auto parts can get you new ones tho(might only be the regular ones tho, no locking).
As for the ones that came on my car i have no clue where you would get them. I ended up gettin some nice polished stainless ones from dorman products through fastenal(i work there go figure! lol) They look very nice but are not locking. I will buy locking ones when i get new rims...i havent decided on size or kind of wheel yet...i REALLY love the new 2009 corvette ZR1 wheels tho!...to bad they are like 20in :-(
I'm 99% sure that GM wasn't putting OE locking nuts on any cars. I wouldn't have a car without them, but even still, if your a serious theif thats not going to stop you, they will have appropriate "keys" and sockets for that.

4thgens used locking lugnuts from a company called AMCOR INC. 800-831-9604 or 313-458-8920. Heck, thirdgens came with them as well. (both my birds did stock.)
Are there locks for GTA crosslace wheels that the caps will still go onto? I was looking for them but could find any.
When I got my 87 GTA, it had regular lug nuts & a locking lug nut, on each wheel, that the plastic caps would screw on. Dunno the brand of the locking lug nuts though.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I got 4 new standard lug nuts for 1 wheel, that the caps will screw on to, from O'Riellys.

Well those must be one hellava third gens cuz I haven't seen locking nuts on anything other than a factory lexus. My 2000 GP GT didn't have them.
all four third gens I've owned came with factory lug-locks, one on each corner. tire shops have a socket tool kit that will remove any lug-lock.., however a regular joe-shmoe shouldn't be able to purchase that kit (shouldn't being the key word)

my parts car came with "locking lug nuts" nothing a hammer and cheap socket couldnt fix ... so if someone wants them bad enough you cant really help it
Any thief that knows what they are doing will know the socket trick, along with a couple others so that if they want your wheels bad enough they will get them. Also, it sucks when you have a flat and dont have the key...so I would only use locks on high-buck wheels where the car is normally secured/parked in a garage AND has towing/labor coverage on the insurance.
You know, those sockets for getting out rounded off nuts and bolts? They work wonders on locking wheel nuts, takes all of a couple of seconds to get them off if you're sporting a cordless impact gun too.
