The way I usually rep is I have an American flag that is just a tad bit bigger than the vinyl sheet that covers the hatch area. I just set the flag on top of that and use paper clips on the sides to hold it on. Looks great.
Rather than trying to look like its draped in a flag, a more spastic (artistic) approach with stars and stripes going everywhere would look better in my opinion. Something like this would be sweet:

I agree...I go to a technical vocational high school and in the automotive shop,they have a project camaro that it painted red, white, and blue...it looked alright to me.

wow, I work in that town and I can't say I ever remember seeing that car around. Definitely the patriotic paint job if I've ever seen one.
