The way I usually rep is I have an American flag that is just a tad bit bigger than the vinyl sheet that covers the hatch area. I just set the flag on top of that and use paper clips on the sides to hold it on. Looks great.
Rather than trying to look like its draped in a flag, a more spastic (artistic) approach with stars and stripes going everywhere would look better in my opinion. Something like this would be sweet:

I agree...I go to a technical vocational high school and in the automotive shop,they have a project camaro that it painted red, white, and blue...it looked alright to me.
88 iroc camaro, 350 TPI, 700R4 corvette servo, and shift kit, 4wheel disk brakes. chrysler's sunburst orange pearl/ black- two tone paint. 4th gen seats, newer carpet.
