paint job

how much does a paint shop usually charge for an exterior paint job to include door jambs. pretty much everything but the interior, which will be covered with sound deadener. i will do all the prepwork to include taping off windows and body damage. i will probably only need the paint tech to prime, paint and clear the car.

how much should that run.

Re: paint job

Depends on the paint and all that obviously but id say average is like 1200 if you have most of the work done already.

Re: paint job

Good materials by themselves cost over a grand......

I shopped for a paint job for months, and I found that most places won't let you prep yourself, they want to do their own prep work. After hearing about 10 places tell me between 5 and 6 grand I finally found a place that told me 3700 including jambs and black headlight buckets. I had several door dings as well that they fixed.

Either way 5-6 grand like mentioned above sounds right if they do the body work, prep work, paint including door jams, and also a finish cut on the clear and what not. I wouldnt pay anything more then 2 grand for a GOOD paint job if i already had the work all done.

Re: paint job

lol, i am not 100% sure about that 2 grand. i know i can get a paint job for 300. and if you never get close enough it would look good. lol. but i dont want that. i wanted to know from someone who has gotten a good paint job and done all the paint prep. the two grand comes from maaco. signiature paint job can cost 1000 and up. but 1000 and up can be 45000 lol. i just wanted a for sure number that someone with similar circumstances wound up with. if that all makes sense.

so, that's like 800 for a T-Top Thirdgen? Does that JUST mean paint, or is that a whole job (prep, etc).

Also, where are you in Browns Mills in relation to Hunterdon County? 300/panel doesnt seem too bad!!

Re: paint job

$800! No way! $300 a panel.There are 10 panels on your car.2 quarter panels, 2 doors,2 fenders,hood, decklid,2 bumpers.
But that does include all disassembly, prep, paint, reassembly, and color sand and buff, and detail.
My shop is actually in Mt.Laurel.Im in Burlington County.
