Re: Have you named your Cars?

My first "bird" was named "goldie" because of yellow gold paint, I haven't named my '91 Trans am yet, but I like to call him "Poncho" and my friend once called him "Transit" -(Transit is a name of european Ford van)

Wasyl - greetings from Marek, it's nice to see other people from Poland here...

There is a guy on the corvette forum that does a lot of custom consoles. His name is Chris and can be reached at X94406Runner@aol.com

CarskinZ
4049 Schulze Rd.
House Springs, MO 63051

The console is real leather and the "The Project" color matches the car. I paid for the set up disk for the Camaro logo so it shouldn't cost too much. He will need your lid.

Re: Have you named your Cars?

I bought my car 2 years ago. I fell in love with her. My friend had it and really abused her. I wanted her so bad. He said you can have her for 3 grand. I was goign to buy her for that much. But waited. he beat her so bad her transmission well as he thought went bad. I asked him the price again he said 600 bucks she's yours. I took it. I mended her wounds and 5 grand later. She's my girl. I call her Kammie. She is my baby. And I promised her I would never let her go no matter what. Oh btw the tv cable was stretched put a new one on adjusted it worked for 4 months. Until I got a new transmission last year in October 700r4. Then been beating around the bush about getting a stick in her. Finally she decided to lunch her flywheel. So its conversion time. Me and her been through alot divorce. Alot of highway breakdown lanes. But you know what she still purrs when she is in the mood and drives. Today I have her on blocks. Next week is her new WC T5.

1991 firebird I strapping out. I call her Donor. :P been raping her for parts for my beautiful Kammie. .

Re: Have you named your Cars?

I wouldn't think so because i always named my cars as girls. Some might of done this but I know I haven't. I actually thought it was ironic that they named them girls. I think its a given thing. Why would you want to name your car a dude's name kinda weird if you ask me. IMO.

Re: Have you named your Cars?

I don't know where the female name started but I've heard it quite a while. If it wasn't a female name, then it was something abstract or an adjective. (The Destroyer, The Demolisher, White Lightning, etc...)

Frankenstein... i like that, lol, i have taken parts off of a lot of other thirdgens for this car, mainly interior pieces, so frankenstein would fit pretty well, i think that name deserves a new paint job though

although i had to get it towed one time, and while i was in the tow truck, i saw it in the rearview, and it looked like it wanted to kill me, so i joked about painting it green with purple under skirting, and calling it the hulk, lol

Re: Have you named your Cars?

"The Black Pearl", long story including me having the nickname "The Pirate", two girlfriends that loved the Pirates of the Caribbean and that a lot of people find my car "spooky". Over all I like the nickname. I think there is another person on here but they call theirs "Black Pearl", mine is always got the "The" in front of it.
Also been try since I got the name to get a license plate with black pearl in some form on it and they are all taken, guess I have to wait a couple year till the Pirates of the Caribbean blows over.

Re: Have you named your Cars?

Going to name mine "Anastasia" - it is a Greek name that means reborn, she who will rise again, resurrection. Seems appropriate given all the work I have had to do to her to get her going again ( and the work yet to come ). And the firebird or phoenix burns itself & rises from the ashes reborn.

Re: Have you named your Cars?

Mine's named after a quite obscure Anime Character. I had the name picked out even before i owned the car!

But, untill she's done, i just refer to her as "The Camaro"

As for why cars are named after girls, I have to agree its the money, hassles,
and extreme affection. It goes beyond anything logical to blow as much money, get the hassles, yet still have the affection. Actually, there's alot in common with girls of the flesh and bone variety. (Speaking purely of some of the girls I've dated)

However, in retrospect, my 86 has gone with me almost to our total
destruction. Hard to find a flesh and bone girl that will stick with me that far!

BTW, TheProject, i love the quote.

Re: Have you named your Cars?

How bad is it to rename a car. I named my car after a girl I liked at the time (things have changed) and my car has had nothing but problems. I think it is the name... Felicia doesn't really fit my white Firebird. How bad is it to change names? I think it is bad karma... What do you all think?

Re: Have you named your Cars?

Well I never really name my cars, but my dad gave my Camaro the nickname "The Green Streak" after I flew by him one day while I was eating up some 16 year old kid in a stock civic

Re: Have you named your Cars?

Mine's named Cori.....couple of reasons....

1) She's cheesy and from the 80's....much like the infamous 2 Cori's.
2) It's IROC backwards.

Yeah, I'm a geek....sue me.

"Sideways"

No matter if its an April shower or a morning mist, the rear will lose traction somehow.

Trying not changing a name, and have it eat the tranny, rear-end, everytime I fix an oil leak, a new one appears, Vacuum leaks from the superram, Vandalized twice, clear coat on roof started coming off..

Before the car was named it ate up the engine, and got vandalized as well...

And get this, car only has 86k on the body, and everything has gone out already.

Mine is a renamed. my dad had another name for it and I changed it. Tho it did change ownership maybe that is permitted. Also the car was pretty broken down when I bought it, so maybe it can be resurrect it in a new name. Over all my car has held together very nicely with it not being the "original" name.
