Carbon fiber paint...

Hi all. Have a quick question about whats a good carbon fiber paint to use for my air cleaner housing, cover, and air dam (the thing that runs from the housing to the front of the hood)?

I would like to get that shiney carbon fiber look if possible. Any tips are welcome! BTW I have a 91 Camaro 305 tbi.

Re: Carbon fiber paint...

you can't get carbon fiber paint, you could use a silver with black flake or opposite. carbon fiber from paint comes as a technique of a black base or silver, then throwing some net on it and painting your other color on top of that.

To paint CF, you'd hafta mask between paint layers, to achieve the look.

But you can buy carbon fiber print vinyl & put that on there.

There are other patterns as well as colored carbon fiber.

Re: Carbon fiber paint...

Thanks for the replies! I see what you guys are saying.

Another question though. Where can I find high-temp flake paint? Do I even need high-temp?

Also where can I find that kinda small netting to use as a mask? Thanks for any tips!

Re: Carbon fiber paint...

There is a program called Muscle Car, it airs on Spike TV. They showed how to replicate the carbonfiber look using drawr liner as a stencil. You could probably look for it on youtube. they did this on "Project street fighter" a cuda. They showed how to lay down the paint. It was pretty cool.

Another thing though is do I need high-temp paint for the air cleaner? If so where can I find silver flake temp paint?
