i dont like barry white (the speed shop guy on Discovery)
First i think his choices are poor and he spends to much and hopes to sell it for even more. but while watching today a repeat from 06, barry had the nerve to take a 3rd gen camaro call it junk and then literately trailor trash it out :/...just wondering if anyone else has seen this.

im actually watchin that now haha yeah ticked me off too the way they just screwed stuff to it and rolled paint on it but he dont care he has more money than he cares to do with it. to him it is junk

There's always going to be haters.. But the real review of the Camaro, that I really truly agreed with was Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear driving a 1991 RS on their trip from Miami Florida to Louisiana, check it out.. Now that's good TV..
Re: i dont like barry white (the speed shop guy on Discovery)
I agree, I was never impressed by anything he built on the show, some of his builds were alright but nothing impressive. He always expected to make a fortune off of the profit from his cars, but it doesn't usually work that way.

I hope you people didn't think that was one of his builds
What do you mean by "you people". lol The fact that it's a practical joke just makes it worse. Any Camaro, no matter the year, is worth more IMO than a Torino. I wish I had half the money he spends on any of his cars to spend on mine.
Re: i dont like barry white (the speed shop guy on Discovery)
I watched today as well - was sad. I got all excited when I first saw them roll it in, then they trashed it - it was worse than meeting a $100 hooker when all you have is $10!
But - wouldn't ya just love to be able to find junkers, fix 'em up, and auction them off for a profit? What better job could there be!
Now if I only had $40k in cash and a garage! Anyone wanna hook a brother up?
Re: i dont like barry white (the speed shop guy on Discovery)
Barry and his bunch got trashed over at the hotrodders.com forums too. Taking a Tempest and cloning it into a GTO, and taking a Satellite and cloning it into a GTX made several people over there mad. His wife joined the forum and took a thrashing over the show. I watched those shows when they were first run episodes back then. I saw they were coming on and DVR'd a few. I skipped the Torino episode, now I wish I hadn't.
But if you watch a lot of the car shows today, it's 15 minutes of building something and the rest of the show is like an infomercial, trying to sell you something. I liked Wrecks To Riches because the whole hour was one build start to finish. If you watch Horsepower TV or Musclecar, you know what I mean. Stacy David'sGearz is the same way. And they build too many projects at one time, skipping around the different builds. Next thing you know, there are different hosts finishing the three or four projects that have taken two seasons to get to the half-way point. Did Santiago take the road-race first gen Mustang with him when he left? What happened to the Malibu that Horsepower TV started to build into a drag car? I guess what I'm saying is if there was a redeeming element to Wrecks To Riches it's that you were entertained with out the infomercial. I liked American Hot Rod (Boyd Coddington's show) for the same reason.

Well I normally like the show. I typically like their design choices and usually I like their choice in cars. He doesn't make cars ugly like Chip Foose or only do old time hot rods like Boyd Coddington did. His cars are generally faithful to the original design with a slightly modern twist. In many cases what they did with some of the cars is exactly what I'd do with no budget limits. Their 1969 Camaro build is a good example of this. Great looking car that basically keeps to the original idea but has modern upgrades to enhance drivability and performance.
However I did see a clip of the third gen "trailer trashing" but I didn't get to watch that. I didn't like him disrespecting the car like that, but then again our cars get almost no respect from the really old school guys. Especially not from the guys who grew up in the 1960's and early 70's.
