What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
So in the thread Did you name your cars?? And it was by zemon1 There was a lot of interesting things in it. And I thought it was a good question and thread altogether. But there was some questions as to whether the cars are female or male....why are most seemingly female. And what to women think of their cars...and their sex and names.
I am only one woman but I thought it would be interesting to here what the ladies on here had to say. Because I see mostly guys posting.
In my opinion....Manuals are Males and Automatics are Females. I do not know why. Well I do in away but I ain't putting that on here. Lol.
My 88 Camaro is to me a Male because of the Manual. I named him Chase. I like the name. I think in my eyes it fits the car because it sounds like a nice name but alil rough around the edges which right now my car is.
I agree with redtruck18 on the statement that most men call their cars females because its almost like the time they into it is a relationship. And I do agree probably because mine is male and thats how I view it.
However I do have my everyday car I use for now...its a 1992 Saturn and yea it isn't anything special and I view it as a female.....its an automatic....and for the most part she listens well. Lol ummm I call her Lynn. I don't know why. Shes just my everyday work car for now I had plans for her but it was all cosmetic.
So my big question is and you men an answer this to if you wish.....Why do you view your car as a male or female?? And What do the other ladies here view their cars as?????

Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
I posted in the original name and sex of the car. My baby's male - has been for the almost 16 years I had him - it's seemingly been the best and definitely the longest relationship that I've had.
He's an automatic, though I don't 100% drive him that way, but it never was a deciding factor. The car... well... has some balls, and is sexy as hell - and for me, that's male, not female. Not to mention, he usually farts when he wakes up...
The daily's an SUV - that one's female - his "little" sister.
Neither really have names, though I do refer to the Z as the monster, the beast, my black stallion, baby... but like most males I've known, will tick me off at times, and that's when the POS name comes out - although I do take it back very quickly.
Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
My car has no gender i like to think of it as something risen from the depths of hell, and it has a demonic demeanor and if anything it act as the little voice in my head telling me to do bad things. I think most men think of cars as female because of all the time invested in it as well as the money. As i agree alot of time and money is invested in to my car i do not however think of it as a female or male just as a thing that uses me to do its bidding.... LOL haha almost started to believe all that did you. Lol no but seriously. And yes to answer your next question i am a man.

Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
i think most guys think of their cars as female because of all the time and money invested just like in a real person to person relationship. Im a man and my car is a female because of the way she acts. if you treat her right she will thank you. if you treat her poorly and dont give her her weekly massage then she might act up and get angry at you. Then there is yelling (mostly on my part lol) but then you make up and things go smooth again. My relationship with my car is like that of a dating couple. Gotta buy her gifts sometime and take car of her or she will kick you in the breadbasket when you least expect it.

Lol sorry the yellin part was cute.....I was trying to get the distributer off of mine and it was so badly rusted the button actually melted to the metal...I tried getting it off and hit my knuckles against the hood I was like " Mother ****er" the boys just looked at me and laughed.
Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
If you don't like the general idea of it... why come into a thread that's obvious about what topic is going to be talked about? Trolling is about the "gayest thing ever" to me. If you don't have something to say that is about the topic other than to bash it, just try not opening the thread next time. Alright?
Anyways... my bird is female. Named her Angelina the day I bought her and was driving her home. I agree with most other guys on here in the way that she acts like a woman. Treat her well, it runs like a dream, but the second you get too busy to give her the attention she wants... she let's you know it. lol.

I did have something to say and you just read it, where's the rule that says you can only chime in if you have something positive to say, it's my opinion, I' m entitled to it, it's called freedom of speech, something that comes with democracy.

Sorry but if you were truly mature...like you think you are...you would have just realized that these threads are for "Fun". And if ya can't have fun or take a joke....then you got big issues. Just take it for what it is...and let it be. But thanx for your opinion
I am only doing these not that much important fun topic posts because I am waiting on my job to come around so I can get started on my Camaro...plus winter up here has been brutal.
Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
My car is a girl... Because like most girls, I end up spending money on them... She really does have a personality... Like when I have a girl in the car Felicia (Car) gets jealous and my check engine light comes on, or she will just at a light and I have to start her up again...

I had the same experience with my car over the weekend. I let my friends girlfriend drive it because she wanted to see all the fun i had in my camaro . When i got out to let her get in the driver sit the check engine light turn on. Then as she put it in gear to drive the car, my car just turned off . It was strange because that never happen to me when i am with my camaro. Even though my camaro is a automatic it shouldn't turn off when i put it in gear. Anyway, my friend's gf though i was playing a joke on her and got angry because ashe though i didn't wanted to let her drive my car.
I also believe that the way you treat your car she in my case because i think out her as a female will treat you right back well.

Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
All my cars are and have had female tendacies (for those that say cars don't have a gender) just that type of experinces that I have shared with them and still do.
-They all have been love at 1st site
-Each one has been all I can think of for the 1st few months (after purchase)
-On every pay check there is someting I want to get them big or small but something
-As every day events get to you, work stress, home stress what ever just a few minutes of their time and it goes away...because they make me feel like a MAN
I tell my wife all the time " is your car... but she's my girl" the wife comes home and wil say the car did this or that or didn't do this or what ever, I go take a look and nothing... she walks away saying " That F-kng B-tch!!!" and no am not talking about the camaro, my wife has her own car her name is "Honey" and she shares my hart with the others
Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
Ehh, I don't think it's just as simple as whether it's an Auto or Manual that would determine the sex, but more of what kind of relationship you have with your car. Don't get me wrong though, if mine were a manual, I probably wouldn't like the idea of it being a guy either, but... I mean, if my car were kept mostly in the garage and brought out for shows, and I was constantly pampering it then yes, I guess it woul be a girl.
But with mine... I don't know, it's like I see it as a really good friend. That car was with me throughout my high school career, and I cared abpout it deeply. I've laughed in that car, got into trouble in it, cried in it and even bled in it once. It was been one of the few stable and reliable things in my life then.
Eh, I don't know. Maybe I read too deep into things, lol. It just feels like he's a great friend, is all.
Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
If auto or manual makes it a boy or girl, then mine had a sex change
Honestly, you'd think my wife would get jealous with all the money and time I spend on my car, but she loves the car as much as I do. So it's win-win with my two ladies

Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
Yeah, the yelling part is very funny. That hasn't happened to me yet with my 86 TA... I just picked her up a week ago. But she does have a small electrical gremlin that I'm trying to figure out, and it is getting a little a little tiresome. Give it time... lol. My 86 TA is a V8 with a 5 speed manual, but I named her "Gina". I have a thing for the lovely Saundra Santiago, who played Det. Gina Calabrese in the classic TV show "Miami Vice". Hence the name of my black 86 TA (same color as Gina's lovely hair) he he he...
My daily driver is a 84 F 150 pickup, red in color, that I named "MaryLynne". My little 2 wheeler is a 82 Suzuki GS400 that I named "Kumiko", a very pretty Japanese girl's name which I do believe means "little jewel"... Yeah, this winter has been pretty cold here in the Great White North. I bet you got quite a bit of snow, since you are south of Lake Erie. Lake Erie is only 10 miles south from where I live, and we also get lake effect weather from Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair. Yeah my wife is cool about me having so many "ladies" in my life, lol, she loves my latest lady, that being Gina. She can't wait to go cruisin' in the warm weather with the T tops open!

Re: What do you men and women think about the names of your cars or sexes of them???
For me, cars are always female. It just feels wrong to think of them otherwise. I know that my wife is even more insistant than i am about the sex and naming of a car, she usually has hers named in her first real drive. She always tells me that the names come to her as she gets a feel for how the car behaves, and I agree, mine has all been named according to experiences during the builds and subsequent drives. To me the idea of a car taking on a persona is something that comes naturally to a car guy (or girl). or a gearhead (guy or girl). I have never met a true gearhead who does not view his or her ownership of a vehicle as a personal relationship. I don't think there is any way to explain it, so if you don't get it, you probably never will. It's just a part of who we are as car people and gearheads.
