Hi i'm looking to see if anybody has managed to paint their iroc-z the inferno orange metallic (IOM) color found on the 5th generation camaros. I am sure i want to paint my other iroc this color i just want to see what it looks like so if you could help me out, thanks. Kegan
that would be cool to see, but i gotta say even with all the annoying threads about making third gens look like the 2010 camaro, i dont think anyone will have painted their car to match it yet.
EDIT: although I dont doubt someone will be doing it in the next couple weeks or months

yeah just as long as its a close match and has the same effect...we're pretty good at getting things to match close but i'll post pictures of the progress
The picture below is probably as close as you'll find. I was worried when I first read this thread, I thought you were going to paint your black IROC orange. That'd be horrible, she's a beauty, looks perfect.

don't know of anyone that has painted it that color yet but im sure its coming. I know my friend is doing it on his mustang but lets just forget i said that
yeah my black one here is pretty flawless i dont think i'd have the guts to repaint it lol
Speaking of blacks, how hard is it to keep clean? I'm thinking about going black in a few months, since I'm in need of a paint job anyway, and I've been told a lot of different things.
I've been told black will be my worst nightmare, and that it shows every speck of dust. I've also been told it's easy to keep clean, especially the sapphire and metallic blacks.

black is a nightmare. i would not recommend painting your car this color unless your dedicated to washing it every time you drive it. i polish mine probably twice a month and it shows every scratch and swirl mark and theres nothin you can do about it. black looks good at night though
Yah, Im paintin my car two tone Black on top and Atomic Orange (08 corvette color) on the bottom, I know that the cleaning is going to suck but I think it would be well worth it.

Is it seriously that bad? I've heard mixed reviews on it, then again, from different people with different types of black. The Sapphire black BMW guys claim it's very managable, along with the people that have a metallic black of any sort.
It seems to be the people with solid blacks that complain about how bad they are to keep clean.
I'm still lost as to what shade I should go with, but from what I've heard, solid blacks are a no no.

well i've painted a few cars to know that black is a no no if you dont want to take care of it and still it will always look not perfect lol. metallics won't show swirl marks/dust/scratches as bad but you'll still be able to tell believe me.. silver is a good color. if i could redo it all i think i would have either chose silver or an orange metallic.
