I have been thinking about taking all of my brackets and other pieces off of my engine bay and having them powder coated. I am just wondering on how much powder coating will cost for just a the usual, AC/alternator brackets and a few other things. I just would want a clean black look. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That will depend on where you are. Little brackets are easy, and the powder isnt too expensive, unless you want custom colors.

I would check local forums, and see if you can find a buddy who can help out. It shouldnt cost too much for a few brackets.

there are a couple of place that do powder coating here in cali. But if would like to do it your self, in Harbor Frieght And Tool they sell the powder coating gun with the machine and also the powder on the side and they come in red and black. But the thing is when you powder coat something you have to put it in a over of some sort to heat it so it can be looking even better

As it was mentioned above, it's going to really depend on what the local powder coaters are charging in your area. I had my LS1 valve covers powder coated a custom black-chrome color and it was only $60, which I thought was very reasonable. I'm going to have my LS6 intake powder coated the same color and he said it will be about $75 for that.

Its not expensive to start your own, but please, DO NOT use the oven you cook in. If your going to do it yourself, get an old oven.

We PC at work, and used to use an old oven. We have a nice one now.

Talk to a few a places and if your not in a time crunch, try to piggy back on another order. What I mean is the shop is doing an order for somebody else in the color you want and if it's just little brackets they can do yours also for very little with the production run saving you the cost of setup time and labor they are already doing. You are basically just paying for materials.

I have done this a few times and paid 1/2 the going rate sometimes nothing but you can not be calling up and hounding the shop to get your stuff done. Most time I waited was three weeks.

I have to agree with everyone else. Just get an old oven then powder coat the part you want and heat them up in the old oven. It will cost you less if you do that then going somewhere and letting someone else do it and making sure that they did the work like you want to

i am thinking about doing this too when i was on craigslist i was finding old electric ovens for like 100 bucks and yeah the final cost for the first time you do it maybe more then you expected but then that means you can do it multiple times at no cost and maybe even charge friends cheaper then local shops and make some profit

I think the powder coater brackets will look great. Not sure on costs,I don't think it's to expensive though.

Small parts can be done in a toaster oven. you can get used ones at a thrift store for5- 20 $ Its great place to start.

The powders from eastwood are pretty good and easy to work with. Big variety. you can check.
