OK, I admit, I did not read the entire thread.... BUT, here's my input.
1. - In Ohio (where I live), I paid an $80 fine for no front plate (c**k suckers).....
2. - When my step brother had his Grand Am to avoid plate issues, he simply stuck the front plate in the lower passenger side corner of his windshield. I was wedged in between the windshield and the dahs. Held just fine that way.
And I hate how the DMV won't give a drivers test with out a front plate. When I was getting my license, I had to use my mom's Ford Tempo (disgusting car, Fords SUCK).... It was from PA and had no place to mount a front plate (so a power drill fixed that problem)....
Best of luck and more power to anyone who agrees that law should be changed (sports cars need no front plates, cuz, everyone else is always lookin' at the back of 'em anyways)...
my plate was in my windshield when i got arrested. the official charge was "incorrectly displaying registration", so be aware of putting it in your windshield. not always the best way to correct it.
Hey maniac! I'm in Cleveland . Is there a Cleveland org for us? I was doing about 105 on the turnpike one day, and my radar when BESERK from a laser shot. When the dik pulled me over, he asked if I knew why. I of course replied " why no officer I don't." He just smiled and said that I was not within the law for not having a front license plate. I'm guessing my plastic nose didn't give him a very good reading back in the car, so that's all he could get me for. Regardless, it was hilarious, cheaper, and is the only reason I haven't had my check sent directly to my insurance company. I paid the 80 bucks and left it off.... f' em. I did see one mod that was funny, but borderline compliant. the guy folded his plate from the top and bottom so that the numbers, and ONLY the numbers were showing.... then it was hardly noticeable on the lower airdam. They could not like it, but I'm guessing it's enough to slide by.
fordcrusher,
I have not yet found a Cleveland f-bod org/forum. I'd love to find one though.
But since you live in Cleveland, I'm not sure what kind of driving you do, but here's a warning.... I have a radar/laser detector (about a year maybe 2 years old).... Well, it no longer picks up on the Mayfield and it's either Willowik or Wickliffe.... I've cruised past cops numerous times (doing maybe 5 over) and they were patroling the area for speeders and not a peep out of my detector.....
Just thought I would pass this F.Y.I. on to you (incase you thought you could rely on your detector).
I'm sure if these cities have change their equipment, more are to follow.....
I'm not inclinded to rely too much on the detector anymore (and I'm not going to buy a new one to keep up with the changes in technology). Just reduce it legal speeds....
