November COTM *Winner* 2013
A big congratulations needs to go out the 86TA355SR, and his goregous 1989 GTA!!!
The specs....
1989 GTA
L98 TPI with 700r4
Black, RPO 41U
Beechwood leather interior
Analog dash
26K Original miles!!!
The details of this car don't come from what has been added on or changed for improvements. The best features of this car is the fact that it is exactly as the PMD designed it and has been left that way down to the original muffler. The vehicle has been meticulously detailed and the vehicle is likely in better condition now than when new. THAT SAYS A LOT!!!

My GTA was nominated for COTM January 2013: I never checked the site that month because I don't have much interest in cars during winter, so I didn't know about it until after the poll was closed. I never dreamed it would be nominated again, let alone be COTM. Big thanks to carlos64030 for the nomination, all the nominating votes, and all the votes from people in the polls.
The car was a CL find. A few days before the ad expired I found it, it was a 3 hour drive to go look at it. All the documents were there, the car was straight/rust free, paint was good, and it only had 25K miles. There were pictures of it with only 8K miles from the original owner.
Documentation:
It was in bad need of detailing. The emblems were in the wrong spot because the past owner liked them that way. Immediately, I suspected a repaint or an accident, but that wasn't the case upon closely examining the car. I removed the original emblems, wet sanded the entire car, buffed/polished/waxed car and put the original emblems in the correct location. I removed all traces of tar under the car. It really is as clean as it looks in the pictures, even the screws that hold on the side gfx on the door sill have no dirt build up.
Corrected paint/GTA Badges:
I've rebuilt the headlight motors, fixed the headliner, changed all the fluids/filters and front brake hoses. Had to put tires on it after a blow out.
Future Plans: Keep it in mint/excellent condition. Continue detailing it. Keep the entire car operational like it came from GM.
Even though I don't drive it much, I take excellent care of it. I am fortunate enough to own my dream car! I always wanted a nice black GTA.
Again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart, I can't tell you how overwhelmed I am right now about all of this. It's unreal.
Aaron

Congrats man, how hard is it to find such a low mileage third gen.
Thinking of selling both of mine and getting 1 low mile car.

Re: Novermber COTM *Winner* 2013
It was pure luck I saw this one on the last day of the ad. I wasn't even looking for a GTA. Better yet, it was as advertised and in my price range. Plus it was only a few hours away from me. My wife says I was meant to have it.
As someone who has owned high and low mile third gens, I'll take a low mile one every time. Not saying there aren't really nice higher mile cars, just my preference. Either way you go, hope it works out. You've put a lot into your GTA!

Congrats on the COTM win! If there is a better word than stunning-that is the description. I absolutely agree with you that sometimes the best cars are the ones you are not looking for. Yes, it was meant to be.

Congratulations! A truly GORGEOUS car! I have some idea how much work it is to own a black car since we had a new '92 black Camry 21 years ago... it looked great clean and polished but it was a lot of work. My favorite 3rd gen is YOUR car, but I also liked my '82 silver/ black T/A that I bought 31 years ago. My wife and I have had about half a dozen silver cars over the years and they are much easier to care for, but if I could have a 3rd gen right now, I would sell a kidney for one just like yours... it's PERFECT! If I still had my '82, I would replace the LU5/TH200 with an L98/TH700R4 and put decent wheels on it (never cared for the "bowling ball" hub caps!!!)

Manta, thanks!
Thank you, I really didn't want another black car, but it was so nice I couldn't pass it up!
Thank you. Still hard to belive it is COTM, I just can't belive it...
I've missed a few nice cars that way also, some of the least likely people have the best cars. For example, a TTA my neighbor's friend owned, less than 10K miles. Sold it a day after I found out about it....UGH! Probably for the best, don't need another GTA, shop is getting full!

Thanks, I've been getting PMs asking if it is for sale. For the record, NOT FOR SALE! It blows me away people like it so much they want to buy my car! It'll probably never leave my shop, I really enjoy owning it.
It has been a huge effort, the car was a mess when I bought it. Spent a lot of time detailing it. The results were worth it however.

On another note, we've been dealing with some family drama. So, I haven't been on here a lot. Thank you all for the nice comments and support, they mean a lot to me. I wanted to get some 'fall pictures' up of the car, but it isn't going to happen, we have other priorities right now.

You're very welcome! I was just sitting here thinking about my car's interior and how I need to get started on it before it gets really cold. My back has been so badly out of whack that it has deterred me from wanting to do anything. I'm at the point now that I would just rather pay someone to do it.

Thank you, I am humbled by all this. Never dreamed it would get this much attention when I posted a few pictures of it last year. And, you are correct, black cars are a lot of work to keep nice, but the shine is awesome when clean! Let us know if you start a project with another 82!

You have got a really great looking car like many others have said! That paint looks like glass. It's really nice to see a 100% factory thirdgen that is in the kind of condition that your car is in.
I still love the look of our 3rd gens an this is an excellent example to show that our cars looks have past the test of time well. Looks like its going fast parked!

Re: November COTM *Winner* 2013
I just saw your car. I had to re-read it to make sure that is really the original paint?!? That car was very lucky it found you!! How many young, clueless dorks could have bought it and destroyed it, just because they didn't know better. Speaking as an owner of a Black '88 GTA which sat for years outside not being driven, I am jealous. As others have said, a stunning car for those that appreciate a disappearing breed. You really need to take it to some Pontiac shows and collect it's weight in trophies.

Thank you all for the comments.
The day I bought this car, the owner told me his college age son was trying to buy it. Nothing wrong with that, but then he mentioned that his son wanted to daily drive it at school-which meant snow, salt, rain and no garage. All I could think about was the damage that would occur to it sitting in a college campus parking lot. I guess it was fate I bought it, I just would have hated to see another nice third gen torn to hell.
