What kind of paint for engines and engine parts?

What do you all use for painting an engine or engine parts? Best brands? Types? I want something high gloss, but I don't know which color I want.

I like plasti coat myself. When it dries it has a nice shine to and is pretty durable.

Also, what type of tape do you use to mask off what you don't want painted?

3M masking tape is the best for masking. Usually you dont need it, but if you want to, you can add a clear coat over all the painted parts. This adds some extra protection and makes it shine a bit better.

I've used the POR-15 and the Plasti-Cote.Gotten good results with both. The POR takes forever to dry, though. If you're in a hurry, use the Plast-Cote in a can.

Personally I'd take the time to let the POR dry. I think it's much more durable than the others I have used over the years. Of course, for accessories, you can't beat chrome. I used the POR on the engine, frame rails and most of the undercarriage and have been very happy with it.
