I had my brother make me some out of sheet metal. I spray painted them black.

i have heard that dust covers are a bad idea b/c they make your calipers get too hot, thus making your fluid hot, thus making your brakes not work well when you have to slam on them. Can someone who has had them for a while clear this up on whether it is legend or not?

Had mine on there for 12 years now, never experienced any fade, though I always removed them before I ran SoloII. Mine have little vents punched into them all of the way around, but I've seen ones that don't have the vents. Might make a difference.

wouldn't the vents kind of nullify having a cover there?

They are awesome!!!

I once had a 94 Z28. I put them on all 4 wheels. I never had to scrub them again!!!

They are vented, and directional. The little vents are just little (barely visable) raised squares that are stamped onto the metal.

The vents not only direct the dust toward the rotor, they also keep them cool by scooping more air.

They aren't cheap. About $35/pr. But IMO, they are worth more than that. Mainly cause they are custom made for the style wheels that you are runnin', whether they're stock or aftermarket. They don't just bolt on, they press into the wheel so that they fully shield it from dust.

I'll tell you whether they affect braking when I stop 2 ft short next time. I remember one guy on here said they affected his car, of course he later explained that's when he was doing 125mph. Said he got smoke and all. I got that before the covers when I was doing 115mph and had to slow down a little faster than normal.
