aluminum wheels- buffing/shining help

i bought some Eagle Alloy polished aluminum wheels(non clearcoated) awhile ago and they have lost a lot of their luster. Regular spray-on wheel cleaner certainly won't do the trick. The only thing that seems to make a difference is some stuff by Eagle One and Mothers that comes in a small container (looks like shoe polish). It takes hours and hours to do a whole wheel with it right though, let alone four wheels. Have you ever used some kind of buffer on a drill or anything like that to polish your wheels? Any other kind of polish that would work? I really gotta find somethin. Thanks in advance for the advise. -Brian

You can get a 5inch backup pad and buffing bonnet for your drill to help with this. Also consider investing in a Dremel tool and the buffing kit they have. It will cut the time considerably and you can use if for lots of other little projects. Next step up is an air compressor and dual action sander. That is what I used on my wheels. See my webpage for before and after pix. Try wetsanding with 600 grit and then 1500 grit. You'll be surprised at the amount of shine you can pull up. Good Luck!!
