Installed fog lights

Just installed OEM fog lights in my 92 RS. I found the fog lamps from a wreck Z-28. As far as the wiring goes, I had to get a relay and a 92 RS fog light switch and 1 wire from the switch to the fog lights. The 92 RS was a little harder than my 86 Z-28. On the Z-28, the wire harness, and relay was there already. All I needed to do was remove the front grill and install fog lamps and switch. Anyone need help installing one in just reply or email. Again the fog lights work just like the OEM, they turn off when you have the high beam on and back on when on low beam.

i think my 1991 firebird formula is also prewired because i have the connectors just sitting around under the headlights. Is that how u figured yours was prewired from the factory?? How did u install the switch?

I bought the fog light switch from the GM dealer and just removed the cover where the original fog liught switch would be. The connectors were behind the cover and I also needed to get a relay switch as well.

I was going to buy all GM parts for the fog lamps which are still available and wire it up. My question is how hard is it to wire up yourself?

i dont know for real, but my guess would be that it is not hard at all.

i found that the i am totally prewired from the factory, all i needed was the fog lamps and switch with panel!

here's a question though, whats the factory fuse size in amps?

Good question, although I would assume that you could look at the fuses you already have in your car. Look at the fuses for things like the lights or gauges. You could do trial and error starting with small amps like 10 then going up. The worst that would happen is the fuse would blow and you put in a higher amp fuse. I am guessing that would work but I am no expert.

I have the reverse situation. I have the lights and switch but no wiring. I was going boneyard hunting next week. How much is the wiring at the dealer? Does anyone have a wiring diagram?

I was looking through the parts and illustration catalog I bought from http://www.metzcon.com/fbodymanual/order.htm I could not find any part #'s for wiring for fog lamps which would be nice. If the dealer has it that would be great although it's unlikely. I have yet to tackle it but the wiring seems easy. All you need is the two fog lamps, a relay (Fog Lamp Relay Kit GM #12167112), fog lamp switch (GM #10045806), and some wire. It depends on how you want to wire it and when you want them on and such. I attached a picture of ACDelco #15-8264 which is a fog lamp relay for my car, however it could be different for your application. Perhaps seeing how many wires come from the relay might help you. I am no wiring genius so hopefully someone can come up with a wiring diagram. http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp has the offical GM shop manuals for our cars complete with wiring diagrams. I know for my 88' it's $90, check it out if you are interested.

I found a connector for the fog lamp switch under my dash. It's weird cause I have no wiring for lamps just for the switch. I tested it with a meter and it's on the same circuit as the instrument panel lights. I swear I keep finding weird things all over my car. First I found empty bulb holders for courtesy lights under my dash on both passenger and driver sides, now I find this connector.
