i'm trying to restore the iroc's doors. now guys, how the hell do you remove that damn spring? After you get it off how can you get it back on there? that spring must be pretty tough. is there a tool that can be used to remove/install that spring with ease? come on guys help me here
yes, there is a tool for this, go to auto zone or o'reillys and ask for the door sping tool. I cant really describe it but you should know it when you see it, it slides in to the spring then you tighten the bolt on it down and it compresses the spring, or just to get it out take a pry bar or bar of some sort and pry on one edge of it, it will pop out at you so be careful, Good luck, it you need some more help just pm or e-mail me or somethin.

Removing the spring is the easy part. Take a big screwdriver and pry behind it to pop it out. It could hurt you, though, so take a big rag and hold it over the spring so that it catches it when it pops out. Getting the spring back in is the hard part. Using a "GM Door Spring Tool" is the easiest way.
thanks for all the replies guys. i will pick up one of the spring tools tomorrow after work/school if time permits looks like the ROC's will be getting some new pins/bushings.
it's always easier when you take something out/apart than it is to put something back in/together isn't it?
