Electrical problem, big time.

I have a 1986 V6 sports coupe camaro, sometime last week all the electricals in my car went nuts. For some reason when i opened the door of my car the radio would come on, but when i shut it, it wouldent turn on. Then if i turned the headlights on the radio would come on, and if i turned them off they'd turn off. Not to mention my 3rd brake light only comes on while im in park, this stuff never happened before, it just recently started happening, we check the fuses and the accessorys fuse was blown. Any ideas as to what to do? Find the short of course, but any ideas where to look or anything i can do?

that is funny, I would leave it like that just because it's cool! J/K, well did you replace all of the fuses that were shot, and replace missing ones? Well, I don't know what to say but that is definently where I would start. dunno

It sounds to me like a grounding problem maybe. Check all of the grounds. Most of the electrical sytem uses common grounds. So if one part of the system looses grounding, then it will only work if its running through another part's ground. Such as your radio and door issue. When u open your door, it grounds the lighting in your car which causes them to come on. Your radio might be using that ground because it lost its own.

Mabye some one f*cked w/ your car. Where do you live? It's kinda wierd how it came out of nowhere, you'd think there would be some kind of "warning" that something was gonna go wrong, like mabye a few lights blinking or something. just my opinion.

I live in the poconos of pennsylvania, i really doubt anyone messed up my car, this place isnt known for bad crime and i dont have any enemys. There really werent any warnings, i mean, i am putting the first 1,000 miles on my engine and im on number 860 but the idle is a little weird, but they really has nothing to do with the electrical, correct?

Checking the grounds is definately a good place to start. BTW, where in the Poconos are ya? I used to vacation up there every summer from 1978 until 1995.

im up in the monroe county, brodheadsville. Its a nice town and we have a nice "community" of car enthusiasts. Just got home from chillin at the mcdonalds where the racers hang out lol. I was talking to a guy with a v8 stock RS, he added purple lights inside his front grill and in the gill on the right and left front spoiler. Nice car, i just hope when im done with mine it looks half as good. Just got 1,800 dollars to spend on the car, i think im gonna buy new wheels because im not happy with my sc rally wheels. Im gonna go from 15" to 17" hopefully, and throw some ground effects on.

Ah, the old familiar towns of Pa. I used to vacation over in Saylorsburg, 1 or 2 towns away from Brodheadsville. I was in a development off of 512 I think it was. Whatever road that is at the 33 exit for Saylorsburg. Is the Cherry Hill Diner still there? Used to go there a lot.
