4th gen dash(i know its old)

Im looking at putting in a 4th gen dash. Im going all new phatom guages so i dont care if the guages work. What im worried about is the heater. Will the dash fit over the 3rd gen heater core and ducs? All i care about is defrost and i will probably mount the controls in the dash because i dont think i will be able to use the 4th gen controls will i? Whats the best dash to use in a camaro?

the only way your going to get the 4th gen HVAC controls is to mount up a 4th Gen Heater core.

I am pretty sure the dash covers it up though.

Search for 72buickGSX, he has a website describing the whole process of doing the swap. He'll have the answers for you.

Somebody got the HVAC controls to work, but they had to install a 4th gen Heater core and i think there was a problem with teh size of lines or something like that.

but defiantly use the search button, it helps!

The pictures look good, but when you start looking at the step by step, you can see there's a lot of hack jobs involved. If you can pull it off with a bit more of a professional look, it might be worth it, but I personally wouldn't want all those jerry-rigged parts, like a hacksawed door handle, and wire holding up part of my dash, but that's just me.

BTW, I assume he meant to put gages in the three holes just above the center console where the heater controls and radio goes, but what originally went there on the 4th gen? I've never sat in one.

72 buick doesnt say anything about his heater controls in any of his posts or his website i wonder if he even has it hooked up. im just going to run the third gen heater core and put the controls in the glove box and put some guages in the old control area or maybe a tv screen

Good luck... unless you have a digital one which only came in few GTA's, the HVAC controlls are operated by cables as well as wires. Itll be a MAJOR PITA.
